“The nicest restaurant in Rekjavick, frequented by Icelanders so no gimmicky Puffin menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013 via mobile

If you want to eat nice, fine dining food like the rest of Icelandics do, go here. The building has been restored beautifully, try and get a seat upstairs if you can, the roof is stunning. The food was excellently prepared, lagoustInes were superb, as was the fish main course. The wine is very reasonably priced. The service was attentive and friendly but not I your face. It is quiet a romantic setting, there were lots of people who looked to be on dates. I didn't want to eat whale or puffin, which is what a lot of the restaurants are offering. This place was just lovely.

“repeat visit - less impressed than last year”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

I really enjoyed my previous visit, so this year I took a group of friends here. The food is still great, the rooms are very light and spacious, so the atmosphere is great. The only thing that did not work this time was service. We felt unwelcome at all stages - entering, getting the table, getting any information about the menu, eventually even when trying to get the bill. This is very strange and completely out of character for Icelandic restaurants; I only hope this was a one-off situation. I might come back on another occasion, but the dining scene in Reykjavik is so rich and varied that one negative experience is likely to sway me towards other options.

“Would go for more”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013 via mobile

Having looked through reviews thought we would try this place. It was so nice, the atmosphere was cozy. The food was amazing, service was good and it wasn't overly expensive. Would recommend it and go back if welcome to reykjavik again. Thank you

“Well recommended by hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2012

We were staying at the Hotel Klettur and asked at reception for a good restaurant nearby. They recommended this restaurant and said it was a mere 4 - 5 minute stroll away, which it was. When we arrived it was quite liverly with several tables occupied but we were promptly shown to a window table. The menu arrived and drinks soon followed as we studied the fare on offer. My wife ordered the seafood gratin and I ordered the pan fried hake, both meals were delicious. The waitress was very attentive and had a loverly attitude. The Maitre D is a Spanish gentleman who has lived in Iceland for over thirty years but who still retains his accent. He was a fountain of knowledge, and between the pair of us we sorted out the world economy ! Superb food and a very pleasant evening
