… it may well look like this. Forget about the dull exterior, inside it's a clean, bright and functional hotel which offers everything the budget traveller needs. Comfy beds, a fridge, TV, nice view of the sea, lots of heat (especially the under-floor bathroom heating), a fast lift and lovely helpful staff. Bathroom is small but functional with a good responsive shower. Don't forgot your shower gel though, they only provide shampoo and conditioner. Breakfast was a perfectly adequate buffet with good machine coffee. The only neg is that a mini kettle in the room would have been nice but you can't have everything. It's a new hotel so everything is clean, let's hope it all stays that way.

Stayed here as part of Icelandair Holidays Northern Lights break. Hotel looks dull from the outside (as do most of the modern buildings in Iceland), but inside is clean, modern and snug. Location is great, with the main shops, restaurants and harbour just a short stroll away. Buffet breakfast is simple but adequate, and the bar is perfect for a pre-dinner drink (with happy hour beers 2 for 1,000 ISK being offered between 18:00 and 20:00 - much appreciated with Icelandic prices!). Note that the hotel does not have a restaurant, so for dinner, you'll just have to sample one of the many good choices in town!.
Room was a decent size and spotlessly clean, and came equipped with a fridge and safe. Didn't get much disturbance from noise, either inside or outside, but the rooms did get very warm at night, with the only thermostat control appearing to be for the underfloor heating. Also, there is no opening window, so if you like a bit of cool fresh air to help you sleep, bear all this in mind!
Only slight problem I encountered was a really strong and unpleasant smell of drains in the room (#302), which developed about 5:00am each morning. Not sure if it was just my room, and may just have been an isolated problem, but was certainly strong enough to wake you up!

We stayed here for four nights, as part of an Icelandair package, and enjoyed it a lot. The Reception staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, for example with giving directions to the nearest restaurants and booking us on a whale-watching trip. On our last morning we had to be up at 4 am for the airport bus, but they had still got a breakfast ready for us. The room was simple but perfectly comfortable, and the breakfast more than adequate. It's about 20-25 minutes walk from downtown Reykjavik, and about 5 minutes from the suburban "Hlemmur" bus station. Definitely recommended.

We stayed at the Klettur in March. When booking we upgraded to a deluxe room and requested a sea/mountain view. We were given a room on the 5th floor which had the sea view.
The hotel is a bit out of town but is still a good quiet location, it is very clean and modern. There are a few restaurants and supermarket a short walk from the hotel.

The room was very clean and tidy, had tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, iron and ironing board, dressing table, wardrobe with a safe inside, bedside cabinets, the bed was 2 singles pushed together. The bathroom had a really good shower with shampoo and conditioner provided and a hairdryer. The temperature of the room was fine and could be adjusted on the radiator and we also had an opening window.

Breakfast is continental style but well presented and plentiful.

The staff were really friendly and helpful with booking trips and return pickup to the airport.

A few minor points if I’m being really fussy, Wi-Fi does not extend to most rooms, a bit more drawer space in the rooms would’ve been nice for people who do not want to live out of a suitcase, the bath towels are a bit small although useable.

If I was to go back, I would definitely stay here again.

Don't be put off by the exterior of this hotel, the interior is minimalistic, clean and warm. The hotel provides everything you need for an enjoyable break in Reykjavic. The hotel is positioned close to the centre with attractions and good restaurants to suit every taste close by.
The bedrooms are modern and very clean, there is plenty of hot water, towels etc.The breakfast buffet is varied and plentiful. A light breakfast is available for early departures.
The hotel staff are very helpful and knowledgeable, nothing is too much trouble. The only negative point is that the rooms on the front can be quite noisy, this did not detract from our stay

Had a really lovely 5 night stay at Hotel Klettur. Our room was warm, clean and comfortable. They provided a good selection at breakfast which set us up well for the day. The hotel is on the edge of the town centre rather than in the middle of it, but that really wasn't an issue, it was nice to walk down different streets on our way to various places and get a real feel for Reykjavik.... which we loved. We found the reception staff really helpful, they booking us restaurants each evening (sjavargrillid seafood grill being our favourite), and sorting out our transport to the airport when we missed our pick up. If we ever return to this beautiful country we will certainly return to Hotel Klettur.
