This is a great new hotel in Reykjavik, hence the reason it is so clean and modern. Sited within 5-10 mins walking distance from the main drag in Reykjavik, the hotel is suitably quiet, and accessible for a good night's rest. There is little much of a view however.

Rooms are usually a twin setup, and breakfast is included in the bar area downstairs. If you are from England, then you get some of the usual TV channels you would expect at home BBC One, ITV1, ITV2 on the telly within your room. No tea and coffee facilities in the room, although these are available in the bar (for which there is a small charge beyond breakfast time).

It gets light quite late during Feb in Reykjavik, but each room has blackout curtains to make it even darker, so beware of oversleeping! Especially because the room can get very warm despite low temperatures outside (We slept with the window open and were just about right). The en suite is arranged as a wet room, and consists of shower, toilet and sink with mirror & hairdryer.

Reykjavik Excursions and Iceland Excursions both pick up for tours at the hotel, and there is ample waiting space within the lobby area. Staff are usually well informed about pick up times and are well placed to arrange alterations to bookings for these tours. (We moved our Northern lights excursion although did not see any lights during our 3 night stay).

Check in and out is straightforward. Room keys are electronic and hence control the power, which is bad if you want to charge a phone or camera while you are out for lunch for example.

There is lift only access to all floors, so if you fear the elevator, you may want to book a ground floor room, which are accessed directly from the lobby (Not sure how noisy these are as we were on the third floor). Not sure if the hotel has disabled rooms, but certainly the room we were in, although on a wheelchair accessible floor, did not have a wheelchair friendly bathroom size, so do check before booking.

All in all really pleased with the trip great nights sleep, great base for a lovely city!

Room Tip: Request a room above ground floor level to be sure of escaping any noise through the lobby. Some no...

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Klettur. 24 hour reception meant our 2:30am arrival was quick and easy, and when we went up to the room it was spotlessly clean and the beds were VERY comfortable - however it would have been wonderful to have one bed with one duvet rather than 2 beds pushed together with two single duvets.

The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about tours, bus transfers to the airport and the Blue Lagoon etc. Most of them are very friendly and happy to help out.

Breakfast was included in our tour and they had an good selection - cereal, yogurt, several different types of bread with cold meats and cheese and veggie's etc to put with it. I would suggest they do something about the toaster situation though - only one toaster that is VERY slow and the queue can get quite long to use it which is a pain. There was also a good tea & coffee selection.

Overall I would absolutely return to this hotel as it was a very comfortable and convienient place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor would be ideal if you do not want to queue for the lift at 12:30am after a...

We booked this hotel as an Iceland air northern lights package, we arrived at about 01.45hrs with five other couples, I have never had such a quick checkin at a hotel within three minutes from arriving we were in our room which was as clean as a pin if a little sparse. The bed, ( two singles pushed together ) was quite firm & I found it very comfortable. We had a bed side table each with light switches to switch both the over head and reading lights, a built in wardrobe with only four hangers, two small drawers, ironing board with iron & a safe, there was a desk with a telephone on & a fridge under, above on the wall there's a flat screen TV. The heating is underfloor with a control on the wall.
The shower room was simple but plenty big enough, the shower had a curtain which like everything was nice & clean, the hairdryer was one the wall above the sink but could be used anywhere near a socket.
Breakfast was served in the basement which was light & airy, I would give the cornflakes a miss, the but everything else was fine & plentiful, I know that a continental style is not for everyone, but if a full English is important to you, England is the best place to eat one, (mini rant sorry).
The staff at the reception were efficient & helpful but not intrusive. We always waited in the lobby for our transport for trips & the airport, the large windows made it possible to sit & wait in comfort.
If I was to be picky, we could not get our laptop to work in the room even with a lead & a kettle would have been good.

The hotel is spotlessly clean with lovely modern surroundings. The rooms were not huge but a decent size for 2 people and excellent bathroom. The only room criticism is that it did not have many clothes hangers, or drawers to put things away (not a big deal).
The staff were very friendly, always willing to help answer queries and book/re-arrange excursions.
Location-wise it was also great, about a 3 minute walk from one of 2 main streets that make up the town centre.

We have just returned from a three night stay and were very pleased with the experience. The hotel was clean, warm and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. We were particularly impressed by the help given with the online check-in for our return flight and the 5am breakfast provided for those leaving on an early morning flight. We would certainly recommend the Klettur Hotel.

Have just returned fromn a fantastic 5 night break at the Hotel Klettur. Fantastic hotel, great rooms, excellent breakfast each morning to set us up for the day. All the hotel staff we met were brilliant and helped with everything we asked. Within five minutes of leaving the hotel you are walking down one of the main streets and the harbour and old town are no more than 30 to 45 minutes walk depending on how many shop windows you look in. When you get to the harbour make sure you have a burger in the little cafe. Could the Klettur have added anything - a kettle in the room would have been good to make a warm drink when you came in, there was a full fridge so why drink making facilities? Not a big enough problem to affect the rating

Room Tip: If you can get an upgrade, the top two floors are bigger, with balconies and better views. Our sons...

We were upgraded from the Hotel Cabin after they'd overbooked but they provided a taxi which they paid for and it didn't really affect our trip. The hotel provides all the essentials and a very nice breakfast which runs from 7-10 so you can have a lie-in if required! Downtown is just a quick stroll away. The rooms are a nice size and the beds are far too comfortable. The showers are powerful and everything is provided including a nice hairdryer and a really good iron. The staff were quick to help with booking buses and suggesting tours and restaurants. I'd definitely recommend it and would stay there again should I return.
