It is a bakery with a twist. The offerings are fair and the tables are all around the place in rooms and niches that, once up on a time, probably housed the original bakery.

This little bakery is the perfect way to start your day of exploring Reykjavik. The taste and quality match the promises delivered by the sights and smells of strong coffee, fresh baked bread, and pastries which great you as you enter the shop. The only thing better is the warm smile and friendly welcome dished out by the staff who great and treat you as a long time customer , even if it is your fist visit. The sticky toffee cinnamon buns are not to be missed.

We stopped at Sandholt three of the four days we were in Iceland. Great pastries and coffey. The service was slow and somewhat confusing if you are in a rush but overall the bakery was very good!

This bakery sets the bar so high for bakeries in Reykjavik, that no other bakery can compare. The pastries are top-quality. The "pain aux raisins/cinnamon bun is just as authentic as what could be found in the best bakeries in France. The sorbet/ice cream is homemade and incredibly tasty. The only complaint about this place is some of the bimbo-like waitresses who have no idea of what they are doing and sometimes have a nasty attitude. For example, I asked the waitress what was in a pastry, and she just looked at it and guessed. Of course, she ended up being completely wrong (I found out after I started eating it). She mistook the little chocolate bumps for raisins.

It is such a breath of fresh air when one encounters a server that is actually knowledgeable and speaks either: Icelandic, English or even French. Because some of the servers there have very limited language skills. It is very weird that a place that obviously pays so much attention to detail and has such superior food would hire useless waitresses. Perhaps someone is saving money by not hiring experts (or people who can communicate).
