We called into Café Babalu after a chilly windy walk around Reykjavik on Christmas Eve. We just wanted a warm drink and somewhere comfy to sit down. We went upstairs and it was really comfortable and homely and very well decorated for Christmas. Thank you Café Babalu for being open when many others were closed.

They were not serving their usual menu, just a Christmas meal, which was OK as we didn't want food anyway (we had already bought a cake at a local bakery). They were obviously busier than they had anticipated and only had two servers working , so service was a little slow, but everyone was being patient and the staff remained polite despite some customers constantly changing their order at the counter.

According to my sons the hot chocolate was lovely, especially the one with added rum:-)
I had a fruit tea from the huge selection of teas (although no Rooibos - come on café Babalu, you must have Rooibos Tea!).

The free Wifi was an added bonus and I would definitely recommend this place for a hot chocolate/tea break. We will be back.............

Quirky style cafe with comfy seating and lots of pictures and wall art to look at including a shelf full of the flint stones ha! Lovely large slice of cake and a yummy got chocolate to keep us topped up and warm!

Very quaint little place, centrally located. Beautifully decorated with Christmas lights and a wonderfully warm retreat from the bitterly cold wind. My girlfriend and I only had a lemon and sugar crepe each but my giddy aunt, they were gorgeous. The bathroom was a strange yet enjoyable quirk- decorated in a Star Wars style with neon lights around the walls. Princess Leia watches you pee. Friendly staff and handy jugs of water sitting on a trolley for you to top-up when you feel like it!

One of the few places to eat if you are searching for vegetarian/vegan food . Find a table and order from the counter . If it is crowded there is an upstairs . Excellent food and friendly service . We visited lunchtime and another day in the evening . The lunchtime food was freshly prepared but be warned the evening serving is good but re-heated in the microwave

This is a place to visit. If you want to feel like you´re at home, or even at your grandmas kitchen, or as if you have gone back into the bohemian years, this is the place.

They have good coffee, excellent pancakes with spinach. I love to just sit there and talk, read. Love the place.
