A nice little stop for a bite to eat, some excellent coffee, and wonderful conversation. A comfortable respite for a couple of over the hill hippies wanting to sit and talk a while with locals and expats and hear a great selection tunes picked by the staff.

Looking for a late lunch on a cold day, we walked up this road towards the big church in Reykjavik and saw this funky little cafe. I ordered a panini with a hot chocolate. The panini was AMAZING. I got the egg, bacon and cheese one and my friend got the tuna and cheese one. It was exactly what we wanted on a cold and grey day.... melted, gooey cheese..... *drool* - and the hot chocolate with whipped cream on top was delicious! The cakes in the window looked awesome as well, but we had decided to get the giant cookie sandwich with butter cream as a filling. oh.my.god. delicious!

check out the toilet - best toilet in Iceland!!!!

We were worried about having to eat whale and puffin to have a square meal in Reykjavik. In a lovely lively little street leading to the beautiful church, we found Babalu. It was cosey and decked out for Halloween. We had a wholesome bowl of chilli beans and nachos and returned the following night for vegetarian lasagne. (They're not exclusively vegetarian). It's a friendly little place and do check out the Star Wars toilet. Don't go there looking for swanky food or surroundings, but it was good food and unexpectedly affordable. We have warm memories. BTW the night after Halloween three boys came round for Trick or Treat. The girl behind the counter said they were a day late but let them choose a cake each anyway. Happy days.

Whilst walking around Reykjavik we fancied a coffee and called into this cafe as we noticed there was free wi fi.

Inside it is done out in shabby chic style with lots of odd tables and chairs that are quaint and quirky.

We sat down and as no one appeared to take our order we went to the counter, there was one staff member who was busy making pannini's so we waited to order our coffees.

The lady was not as friendly as in other places and basically took our money and said we should serve ourselves and everything was on the counter. There was a selection of odd mugs hanging up and a flask of coffee. It was fine but seemed slightly odd.

We wanted to use the wi fi but realised quickly that a password was needed so we asked some nearby students who were using computers and they told us it was Donald Duck.

There is one toilet which was clean and tidy, decorated with Star Wars characters which was different.

I wouldn't rush back here as there are plenty of other good places to get coffee where they serve you for the same money!

This was just round the corner from our hotel (Leifur Eiriksson) and we popped in looking for an evening meal. it was warm and stuffed with an eclectic assortment of furnishings. The veggie lasagne, veggie chilli and panini all met with approval, plus they have monster cookies and some intriguing postcards.
