Not sure how to begin. The TLDR version is: this company is unsafe, and does not care about passenger safety or Icelandic law.

If you want to know more:
This company left us stranded in the middle of nowhere, with no idea how to get back to Reykjavik, as their driver was putting us in deliberate unsafe COVID conditions, violating Icelandic law as I understand it, and by company policy, according to their own website and assurances. We were told that there would be no stop for lunch, and that people would be eating on the bus, including a sick passenger. He likened the experience to being on an airplane, however an airplane *can't* stop. He simply *wouldn't* stop, and largely refused to mask throughout. It became clear to us that our safety was not a priority.

We have yet to receive a call from this company checking on us or our whereabouts. They wouldn't talk to us on the phone. Out of 5 tries, I finally got someone to answer. After a lengthy hold, they responded by saying that indeed, they were leaving us stranded.

We have been all over the world, and have been on countless tours. We love touring, and have never, ever had a bad experience (save a minor headache or two with travel interruption). Our guides have been unilaterally tremendous. We've even sent them money beyond our trips to help them through the COVID hardships. We have never, ever been deliberately put in harm's way.

I really am in disbelief.

Dear divakeys,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We would like to begin by saying how sorry we are to hear about your experience. Please rest assured, our company is following all the recommendations from our government. Safety was, is and always will be our number one priority. Masks are required on the tour bus, except if a person wants to have a snack or a sip of water. We are saddened by your statements as they paint the picture far from what is our company's standard practice. We take pride in our professional guides and safe and welcoming environment we create for our customers on our tours. We kindly ask you to reach out to our complaints department at info@adventures.is so they could open an investigation. Thank you.

All the best,
Team Arctic Adventures

Scary bad company - warning do not use this service. I am a very experienced world traveller having used many great companies. My wife and I were on a 7day tour of Iceland. We inquired before going and were assured masks would be required at all times. Catching covid in Iceland could mean an extended 3-6 week quarantine before returning home so we wanted to minimize our chances of catching it. This company does NOT follow best practices (or legal requirements) in terms of covid. It was a constant battle with our guide to wear a mask and ask others on the tour to do the same while on the bus. There were no accommodations for social distancing during meals. Someone on our bus was sick and coughing continuously. The tour guide CONFIRMED she was sick and still insisted it was impossible to require masks. We felt very unsafe and had to go our separate ways. The guide did not help us find transportation back or provide hotel info for the remainder of the trip that we had paid for. He would not let us talk to the person he was communicating with at the company. We called the main customer support and were told we were on our own with no support for transportation back to Reyjkavic. There were others on the bus who were afraid for their safety but were more afraid to get off because they didn't know how to get home without help. The company has not attempted to contact us or help discuss our experience with this guide. They immediately cancelled all our hotel accommodations and told us they would not give us help arranging transport back. Emails to the company remain unanswered for days. The hotels in the original agenda were not the ones we stayed at fyi. I am a frequent world traveller and really want to work towards finding a way for tourism to resume but this company will have to adapt or die.

It was great hiking, beautiful landscapes and enough time to take pictures, rest and stop at the hot springs to take a bath. We return to Reykjavik around 8pm but the guide Bjork had the kindness to drop us at our hotel.

This was a really unforgettable experience. The guides were great about teaching you how to walk on the glacier in crampons and making sure everyone was safe.

Excellent tour. Enjoyed learning about the glacier and walking through it was amazing! Bring a water bottle, if it is summer time, you can fill up your bottle with melting glacier water.
