Very easy-to-book and very helpful staff. Since my husband and I had a rental car, we met Arctic Adventures in the parking lot of the Sólheimajökull glacier, which was relatively easy to find (albeit a very bumpy ride). We had 2 guides and were in a group of about 10 or so people - we were the only Americans and loved getting to know the other folks from other countries.

Before we started, we were given a hiking-in-crampons lesson - it takes more oomph than one would think - and then we were on our way! One guide went ahead to scout the route while the other guide gave a thoroughly enjoyable/knowledgeable tour while we hiked on the glacier.

At the end of the hike, there was an ice climbing lesson. I chose to opt out of it, but my husband thoroughly enjoyed it! He said it was a more physically demanding than it looked.

Tip: Rent your boots through Arctic Adventures! We were more comfortable with the thought of using their boots with their crampons. Plus, it was relatively inexpensive to do so and it saved us having to lug around heavy boots in our luggage.

A wonderful day hike doing porsmork Volcano hike. Worth doing! My partner and i finished with this after completing the drive around Iceland. Walking over glacier and up steep slopes it was enjoyable, Some parts demanding.
It was nice to be lead the path with a professional guide. Oddi was our guide, lots of experience in the area. He answered any questions and created a relaxed and funny atmosphere. Oddi even extended the walk slightly to offer us a summit view. Pack your lunch and plenty of water but get ready to see some stunning views and feel the warm grounds walking ontop of a Volcano. Thanks Artic Adventures

We had two tours with Arctic Adventures: their snorkel Silfra tour and their glacier hike. Both were excellent, and all our guides were very knowledgeable and fun to tour with. I highly recommend Arctic Adventures for any trips you feel like taking!

Easy to book activities. Helpful staff in making arrangements. Guides knowledgeable. Well-organized adventure tours.

Highly recommend the Thorsmark Volcano Hike. This was the highlight of our trip and felt like a true adventure. Must be relatively fit and surefooted.

Also, the River Fun rafting trip was excellent.

My husband and I hiked the Snæfellsjökull Glacier with Arctic Adventures a few days ago (July 2015), and loved it! It was one of our favorite days of hiking ever! We met Ivar, our guide, in Arnarstapi, and were able to find him easily so we could join the rest of the group who came from Reykjavik. Ivar led 8 of us up the glacier, and we enjoyed fabulous hiking and beautiful views for the 5-6 hours (approximately) we were on the mountain. Ivar was the perfect combination of responsible and fun - just what one would want in a mountain guide! We felt safe, but also enjoyed our time learning about Iceland and the glacier. Definitely recommend Arctic Adventures for excursions in Iceland, especially this particular tour. It was a good, small dose of authentic mountaineering.
