Owner description: Volcano House is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the heart of Reykjavik. This is the place where one can learn about the Icelandic volcanoes by watching high quality film that were created for the Volcano House. Moreover, there is a great lava stones collection, souvenir shop and the collection of arts from famous Icelandic artists. We pride ourselves with of our multilingual staff many of whom have studied geology and so can add to the understanding of our customers.

“So much information about the iceland eruptions captured on film”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

We were aware that this was regarded as the place for information about Iceland's volcanic activity but the film presentations were excellent containing a huge amount detail about the effects on both the Icelandic fishing industry and also the world from the effects of the 2010 eruption. Well worth the visit and good value too.

Dear guest, we were so happy to read this review! As you said, the movies do not only contain information and footage from the two eruptions but also gives you a general view of how Iceland was formed, its geology and how we use this massive activity to produce clean energy.
We thank you again and hope to see you in the future.
All our best, the Volcano House staff.

Dear guest,
We thank you for posting this review about Volcano House. Volcano House Cinema presents two unique documentaries covering two of the most powerful eruptions to rock Iceland over the last 40 years - the 1973 eruption on Heimaey in the Westman Islands and the 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajökull in South Iceland. Gripping footage, riveting images and a dramatic soundtract, take you back in time, allowing you to experience these momentous eruptions from the comfort of our in-house cinema while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea from Volcano House Café.
We thank you again,
The Volcano House staff.

“An interesting accident!”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

Fancied a coffee while exploring the harbour area and came across this place - enjoyed a nice coffee and decided to stay and see the film - glad we did as it was a good way to understand the charateristics of Iceland when we were only here for a couple of days and didn't have the time to explore outside Reykjavik itself. Definitely worth the diversion.

Dear guest.

Many thanks for this great review! Happy to hear that you had your "interesting accident" ;). Volcano House gives you a deeper experience with Icelandic geology and Volcano and is perfect before exploring the island on a trip and even better when you dont have the time to leave the city, like yourself. You will atleast get a little "taste" of how powerful Icelandic nature is.
We thank you again and hope you return again one day to explore our beautiful country, and to stop by Volcano House for a drink ofcourse! :)

All our best,
Volcano House staff.
