“High price for the location”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

The place is located in Harpan which is music and conference center in downtown Reykjavík. The food is good but for that kind of price I expected a bit more. For example the desert was fruit risotto sound strange but it was good but for that price I expect something else for fruits than grapes and appels. The same thing with one of the dishes that was lobster and cod combo we didn't have one lobster, there was cod with lobster taste sauce.

Overall: The food is good but we did expect better ingredient in our food for that price, we did pay almost 40.000 ISK for meal for two with alcohol (arround 350 dollars)

I would recommend go to Sjávargrillið, Grillmarkaðurinn or Fiskmarkaðurinn and then take a walk at the harbour for harbour view. You are only paying for location and the atmosphere is not even cozy felt like I was sitting in airport.

“Fantastic food, great place, lovely view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

Not sure about the price (I think something like 60 euros pp for our massive group), as we were taken out to dinner. However, I loved the food and wine, particularly the salad starter and dessert. Most of the staff members were polite and friendly although it was really busy.
We watched the midsummer sun set in the bay from the restaurant window, which greatly added to the atmosphere.

“Meal with a view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

I recommend climbing the stairs to get to the restaurant which is located on the fourth floor so that you can check out the architecture - well worth it and sets you up well for your meal. When we got to the restaurant I noticed it was quite full with locals which is always a good sign. My dinner party consisted of 20 business colleagues which is always going to be a challenge for staff, especially at a busy restaurant. We had a set meal which consisted of four courses (red salmon sushi, a parma style ham, local lamb and a crumble, ice-cream yogurt desert) with a selection of wines. I don't know what it cost, but I am sure it was expensive - what isn't in Iceland! Best course was the local salmon sushi, very tasty.

Everything was really very good, including the wines and service. The views from the restaurant are fantastic, and while every table has a view, I suggest getting a table as close to the floor to ceiling windows as possible. I think the restaurant is worth a visit, if only for the experience of climbing the stairs up to the restaurant and the views while you dine.

“good food, spectacular setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2013

much has already been said in former reviews about the Harpa Center. Kolabrautin overlooks the city and the harbour with adequately well trimmed decor and fantastic plating. food was very good as well. We had the fixed menu to which we added some wine, which TRIPPLED the cost. Buyer beware....

“Great view anyway”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

We went to Kolabrautin after seeing How to Become Icelandic in 60 minutes." The setting on the fifth floor is spectacular and the views are magnificent. The night we went we arrived about 8:00 PM and over the next hour the restaurant filled. The furniture is Scandinavian in keeping with the rest of the building. The menu arrived and it looked very creative and had mostly Icelandic dished which is what we were after. Unfortunately the service was about as bad as it gets. I imagine there are plenty of applicable blonde jokes but when you are paying top end prices. The food has slipped into the memory of good serviceable meals at a steep price. The service will long be remembered.
