We don't often go for fine dining, so we looked forward to treating ourselves here. We weren't disappointed.

The atmosphere was cosy and relaxed, and the staff were polite and attentive. They didn't seem too bothered by the fact we had been hiking all day and I had hat hair. The food was exceptional. I had a three course lobster set meal that was pretty perfect. And it came to about £35 for three courses- not too bad considering.

Also, I didn't expect such good portions. And I definitely didn't expect Elton John and Michael Jackson on the music either!

Thank Chris W

This restaurant definitely did not disappoint. We were excited to try after reading the reviews and were impressed with the choice and the quality. We (party of two) had the Taste of Iceland (priced around £40) and Fish Feast (approx £34) set menus and considered both to be good value for money. The wine list was perhaps a little disappointing and overpriced but no different to any other restaurant in Reykjavik. Hence we opted for soft drinks and water. The service was excellent and paced correctly - we certainly didn't feel that we had to wait for an unacceptable amount of time between courses - in fact in was nice to sit back and have a little time to digest the rich food! The seafood soup was excellent and we particularly enjoyed the smoked puffin and shag (although we asked for the whale not to be served), which was served with blueberry sorbet, hazelnuts and two types of marinated onion. The fish main course was huge and very tasty - clearly fresh; it was served with a type of creamy barley. The lamb main was tasty and tender but the accompanying onion puree was perhaps a little salty and it overpowered the dish. The desserts were fabulous - excellent chocolate cake and the white chocolate mousse served with raspberries and dill sorbet was absolutely divine. I would definitely go back to this restaurant!

Basically a sort of fine dining. Ok if you like that sort of thing. Quite dark so you cant really see what you are eating! Choice not too great - I was expecting more - particulary sea food. Quite expensive too - but then most food in Iceland is.

Just returned from Reykjavic and felt I should make the effort to briefly review this lovely restaurant. Visited early evening with my family (two kids 6 and 8) and found the place packed (luckily we booked). Waitress gave the kids colouring pencils/books and attended perfectly thereafter. Food was interesting, tasty, uniquely presented and large portioned. Pleased we pushed the boat out visiting.
