Located on the harbour, close to the old downtown, Harpa is a modern marvel. The exterior of the building consists of various bevelled glass windows that refract light in colourful ways. What I saw of the interior consisted of a few shops and restaurants but the interior view up through the glass atrium was well worth the visit.

An amazing state of the art concert hall and conference centre, very close to the centre of Reykjavik, splendid when lit up at night and an exciting building to visit during the day (with guided tours twice a day in summer, once a day in winter, price 1500 SK or about 9 Euros). We were lucky to get seats for the premiere of "Carmen" last night (the Ekldborg main hall seats 1,800): a wonderful opera evening of highest standards.

We were in concert there on Friday evening. Marvelous house, excellent architecture, everything works, friendly staff, good audio!

We can totally recommend this to you. You can buy and print tickets in advance from their web pages. Easy and working!

I would highly recommend walking inside the building to see the interesting architecture. I understand daily tours are offered but we didn't look into this, the building is beautiful and lights up pink and blue in the evenings.

except for some stores and cafes (well, and the architecture) there is not too much to do.
unfortunately it was not possible to see the inside of the actual perfornace hall (as thei is included in a tour by the HArpa itself that you can book for money).
