We had booked the NorthernLights Hunt tour prior to arriving in Iceland March 16th 2012 and our driver collected us at our hotel as planned, and we headed out on our adventure. The Jeeps are such fun and we located the lights really quickly - it was stunning and very magical. Our driver was really great company too (I don't remember his name, but it was something like Jorgi) we then moved on to another location and again saw the lights. My advice to other travellers is to absolutely take this tour but the lights are not guaranteed and to wear really warm clothing. We dressed with lots of layers and still got cold as you're standing outside for long times. My only disappointment is my camera didn't work and it would appear the superjeep team didn't take any pictures that night either :-(

We took this full day trip from Reykjavik in mid-June, 2012, after 12 days self-drive around Iceland’s Ring Road and Westfjords. We were taking the trip early in the season and were lucky enough to be on our own, so activities were tailored for just our interests. We took the trip because we were keen to see something of the interior that is not accessible for a regular vehicle and we were not disappointed. Despite the amazing variety of places and landscapes already encountered around Iceland on our own, this trip was outstanding. Our guide, Birgir, was excellent, driving his modified (giant wheels etc) Landrover Defender with confidence and competence, and he was very willing to chat with us not only about what we were seeing, but any other aspect of Iceland and Icelandic life we raised. While the exact route of this trip varies according to road conditions, we climbed the lower slopes of Mt Hekla commanding great views across the region, visited and did a short walk in the wonderful valley of Landmannalaugar and explored a range of other features such as waterfalls, volcanic craters and crater lakes on different routes to and from the Landmannalaugar area. It may seem an expensive trip at 36,900 ISK (US$292) per person but, given the sort of roads we travelled, it seems to do so much more than could be done on the cheaper bus trips to this area. We felt it provided good value for what we did, for being able to relax and enjoy it without driving and navigating ourselves and for the time we were given (we were out about 11 hours).

I took my husband and his parents to Iceland for his 40th birthday in March - and we ended up in the more than capable hands of Axel at Superjeep! He entertained us for the day as we ventured around the Golden Circle taking in the wonderful sights and sounds (and smells!) of such a beautiful part of the country, seeing waterfalls and geysers galore. The highlight though was the slightly "off-road" experience as he took us across the glacier, which felt like a rollercoaster ride over a white blanket of snow and ice. We had another day out to Snaefellsness Peninsula with another guide from Superjeep who was equally good. Highly recommended! Whilst we went in search of the Northern Lights, they hid themselves from us on this trip, which just means we will have to go back!

We visited Iceland in March and had booked Superjeep before we arrived. The night we had booked for had to be cancelled due to the weather, but this wasnt a problem as Superjeep automatically booked us in for the next night instead. We went out that night and unfortunately the lights didnt really want to show, but we had so much fun hunting them that we had a great evening nonetheless. So it was a bonus that Superjeep also took us out the next night - and this time the lights graced us with their presence! Will definitely do this tour again with superjeep next time we visit Iceland - yes it is a little more expensive than the coach tour, but the coaches definitely couldn't go to some of the places the jeeps go (eg up the side of a mountain minus a proper road!) which is what really made the night we didnt see the lights a lot of fun regardless. Also I think the guides and drivers make the experience what it is and the superjeep team were very friendly. All in all a brilliant experience - thanks superjeep for tracking down the lights for us and keeping us amused while we waited for the clouds to move!

Fantastic day out with (Mad) Axelo. A full day on the Golden Circle Tour. Waterfalls, Vocanic Craters, Spouting Geyers and a fantastic trip onto the Glacier and a superb self-drive outing on Snow-Mobiles. This day will live in my memory forever. Blasting across the Glacier in the Land Rover with the Beatles & Elvis on the speakers was unforgetable. We will be back.
