“what Ash Cloud ??”
Reviewed November 6, 2010

We stayed in April for my 40th birthday. We arrived late on Friday having travelled from Akureyri airport as the ash cloud had closed Reykjavik. When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and helpful - unfortunately we would have to have breakfast in our room, which suited us fine and they brought us a feast ! We were doing the Gulfoss trip the next day so it kept us going in the cold until lunch.

We had a problem with our return flights being cancelled due to the ash and the receptionist couldn't do enough for us - she contacted Icelandair and had us transferred to an alternative flight - we'd booked a trip to the Blue Lagoon and when we returned all we had to do was call the airline to confirm arrangements.

The hotel is really lovely, close to town without being noisy and the staff can't do enough for you. Will definitely stay there again

Lovely hotel, near the centre with an incredible art-collection and the best kitchen of the island! Although the room are not very big, they are very comfortable. The staff was great and attending to every need we expressed.
The dinner in the hotel restaurant was incredible, worth a Michelin star!

Nice, comfortable, and spacious rooms and bathroom. It's in a neighborhood, so it's pretty quiet around there. Within walking distance from the shops, pier, and fun little coffeeshops. We ate at Ghandi Indian restaurant (about a 15 minute walk in the city square) and the food was excellent. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Allow 45 minutes to get to to the international airport from here.

This boutique hotel was terrific. Service was so helpful, friendly and professional. It's in a quiet neighborhood which is why we chose it. However, it's a short walk to the center of town. The outside of the hotel is nothing to look at, but inside is a different story. Artwork is everywhere. The junior suite was fairly roomy, and the bathrooms were nicely tiled and updated. Our king sized bed was very comfortable. We had dinner at the Gallery Restaurant, and the food and service was outstanding. Guests of the hotel are given vouchers for 15% off the food price. The breakfast buffet had a good selection and was priced about $17 a person (converted from Icelandic Kroners).....expensive, but convenient.

A very nice, above average hotel with terrific service that will makes it worth recommending. First, we were upgraded to a suite without even asking for it. Second, my wife needed a bandaid for an injury incurred during the day - the hotel had used up all of theirs and the pharmacies were closed, so the desk clerk hopped on his bicycle and got some from another hotel nearby. The hotel is about a five minute walk from the main commercial area. Good location, above average rooms and great service.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights at the beginning of September. We booked via booking.com and got a good deal choosing a non refundable offer (424 Euros for 4 nights).
The location is great: it is close to almost any point of interest and yet in a quiet neighborhood. Rooms are quite small but ok for a short stay, and the closet is full of hangers. Bathroom s toiletries are limited but include a bathrobe which one can borrow for visiting the blue lagoon. The soundproofing needs improvement: we could hear guests in next room taking their shower and speaking on the phone, even though you could tell from the sound of their voice that they were talking low.
The hotel offers access to two computers in the lobby with free high velocity internet and print facilities, which can be very useful if you do not carry your own computer.
The staff is quite nice and helpful, although there seemed to be some confusion at the bar. Overall a pleasant hotel in a very good location.
