Our B&B host booked us with Dooley when we told him that we wanted a Golden circle tour where we wouldn't be hearded in a big bus. This was perfect, it was a small group and Dooley was terrific in showing us the big sights with his small village insights on daily life. We saw the Geyer, Golden waterfall and National park along with a small village with a geo-thermal park. We had plenty of time at each location to explore and take pictures.

Cruise tours can be very expensive, so researching Iceland before travelling I came across Iceland Guided Tours. They specialise in people on Cruise Ships and guarantee return for the ship's itinerary. Our 16 seater mini bus awaiting us at the terminal was modern and comfortable and being there were only 12 of us it gave that extra space too. Our ship had five 52 seater coaches going on the same tour Golden Circle Tour, all paying twice the price of ours !!
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, he kept us informed all of the way and was more than willing to answer all questions. On our return he asked if we would like a mini tour of Reykjavik itself with a photo stop at the cathedral, that was a plus. He certainly went the 'extra mile'. No hesitation in recommending this company.

We used Iceland Guided Tours airport service and took the South Coast and Glacier Lagoon tour with them.

I definitely recommend using their airport pick-up/drop-off service. For less than $5 more than the Flybus service, you go in a small van with a few other people directly to downtown Reykjavik where the hotels are. The reviews I read of the Flybus service said that you stop at the bus terminal and then it's a free-for-all for your luggage after which you transfer to a smaller van to get to your hotel or you find your way from the bus station. I'm so glad we didn't have to deal with that at 1 am. Instead, we landed, the driver had a sign with our name on it, and we went straight to our hotel (we were the first to be dropped off, but Reykjavik is so small that even if we had been the last, it wouldn't have been any less convenient). When you book the trip to the airport, there are listed times on the website; we had to pick the 5 am pick-up since the 9 am one would obviously be too late for our 10:30 flight. We were the only ones going at that hour, and the driver, Antanas, told us that he was sorry he hadn't given us his e-mail address, because he said the times can often be tweaked a bit if you get in touch with him--so that is something good to know!

Our South Coast tour was with Dooley. Of the various tour guides we had in Iceland, he was perhaps the least engaging and informative, but still perfectly fine. He had some interesting stories about growing up in the country. By the end of the long day, I think he was just trying to keep himself awake on the drive back to Reykjavik by pointing out random things we drove by, like "That's a book store with a coffee shop", but that was okay, I was dozing off myself. The glacier lagoon is beautiful and a bit surreal. We did the amphibious boat, but the zodiac boat looked exciting and more intense. We ended up not really having a choice, because Dooley arranged for everyone on the tour to go on the same boat, but that was okay, and I think we may even have gotten a 500 ISK discount because it seemed to me the price listed on the poster was not what we paid.

We were in Iceland for 2 days and 3 nights and wanted to see as much as possible, so we booked tours and transfers from 1 company. We were picked up at airport s scheduled with the driver waiting for us with a sign with our name on it. We were driven to Reykjavik with 2 other couples for a very reasonable 3000 Isk per person. The driver was very friendly and talked the entire trip about Iceland. We were picked up the following morning for the Golden circle tour.the driver was very nice but was very unenthusiastic. He didn't say his first word until we were 15 minutes outside of Reykjavik. There were 12 of us on bus, a very manageable number. 2 of the 4 stops were disappointing, unfortunately I don' remember the name of the town of the first stop, but it was the town where a house was rocked by an earthquake,a very missable stop. The geyser stop was also disappointing, as we saw one geyser spurt around 3 feet, and that was it.gulfloss was awe-inspiring. We were dropped off at our hotel around 415, and we were waiting for a transfer to the blue lagoon at 5.00 . To our dismay,no one showed up! Fortunately our apartment provided us with a cell phone to use locally, and we called IG,who had no record of our transfer. So,,,,, Odin, one of the owners personally picked us up in his car, and transferred us to the blue lagoon( a 35 minute drive) at no charge. We couldn't ask for more! We heard the blue lagoon was overrated, but we just loved it,maybe because we were cold and tired, but whatever, the setting was other worldly, and so relaxing. The only negative was the high cost,45 euro entrance per person. The second day, we took the south shore tour was awesome, as was our guide Artur. All sites were great, from glacier to waterfall, to ocean stop, and volcano stop, wow! We were picked up the following morning for our transfer to kef as planned, to end a wonderful 2 days

Our first booking independent of the cruise excursions. In summary for the Golden circle tour it was half the price for the same trip as the cruise excursion with half the people. Guide was good and jovial although he did let some personal political issues cloud his comments. Pick up from the cruise terminal worked really well. The tour lasted nearly nine hours and we had plenty of time at the three key sites.
