We visited Iceland for 4 days (3 nights) and decided to stay in this hotel for its location. We weren't expecting it to be an all singing all dancing hotel as there is so much we wanted to do. However, that being said, what a great hotel! The staff are very friendly and happy to help with anything.

The rooms are spacious, the bathroom very tidy, the TV of a good size, the bed wasn't as soft as it could be but they gave us an extra pillow so can't complain. The room was well heated with a giant radiator in the corner of the room and you can access this easily to turn it up.

Our room was cleaned every morning whilst we were out and we felt very safe leaving our items out on display (although had forgotten to do this on the first day as an oversight and felt nervous whilst being out). We came back to a tidy room, our clothes folded up and our items incl. dslr camera and passports neatly layed out on the table (nice touch).

The breakfast was great, we woke up pretty early on all the days for excursion purposes and it was good to know that we could fill up on a very tasty breakfast before going out - they also allowed us to stock up on food and take it back to the room rather than sitting in there. The section for breakfast also turns into a bar at night but we didn't use this facility (as we didn't want to stay in the hotel, that's no bad on them). Please don't be put off by the bar as you can't hear it from the rooms.

Going back to location, the hotel is located at the bottom of the main strip which has loads of bars, restaurants and clubs which are well within a 5 minute walk. There is even a convenience store 1 minute from the hotel which sells drinks and snacks so very convenient if you want to stock up on these things in the room. Also, a cashpoint opposite the hotel which made it easy when running low on funds (as we couldn't get money changed up in the UK).

I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone as it made our trip that little bit better knowing we were going back to a lovely hotel where we really felt we could relax.

Room Tip: We stayed in 202, short walk up one flight of stairs and good view of wall holograms projected at night (very quiet alley).

Myself and my son stayed for 3 nights for the marathon here in a twin room , beds are narrow and comfortable same as the rest of Iceland. No worries. Again as in other reviews rooms can be small , but why would you want to stay in your room when there is so much to do. Staff lovely and friendly , great location. With regards outside noise, have a couple of pints and enjoy a fab country and have a great holiday .

The City Center Hotel is right in the center of town, and it has easy transport to and from the airport. It is expensive, but they have a fantastic buffet breakfast that will keep you going all day long. I found it rather fun to just look out the window at various times of day and night to watch the scene in the square below. There's a hotdog stand on the side, and skateboarders occasionally show up to practice. Outside the hotel, they are continually running movies on a big screen. But really, you need to be walking all over Reykjavik, taking in the weather, the shops, the nearby opera house, Harpa, the walking path along the sea. Then get out and see Iceland!

We stayed here for one night at the end of September. The hotel is perfectly situated – right downtown, in the middle of the hustle and bustle, with everything within walking distance: shops, cafes, restaurants, harbour/marina, the Harpa and shoreline walk, Culture House, City Hall, etc.

The hotel is clean and modern, boutique-ish. Our room was on the top floor (6th), with a nice view of Austurvöllur Square and the Parliament House. There’s a small dining area where a delicious breakfast is served. On the Saturday night we were there, it was full of locals and tourists having drinks.

There’s a small elevator that’s a little quirky – you just have to make sure the second door is closed properly, or it won’t operate – no big deal.

The staff here is amazing - everyone was so friendly and helpful, from the servers at breakfast to the general manager who apologized for not responding within 24hrs to our email request (he included breakfast with our stay). Dodi especially deserves a special mention – he walked with my husband to show where to park the car for free, helped us with our luggage, showed us how to use the elevator, pointed out places on the map, and gave us great suggestions on where to eat (we wanted Italian or Indian that night). It really made for such a pleasant stay!

We were attracted by the location in the middle of the city, with easy transportation from the airport. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff, Farouk in particular, should get 5 stars for being accommodating. We arrived hours before check-in. He went out of his way to get our room ready. He cheerfully made all reservations for us, suggested restaurants, drew us walking maps, etc. The breakfast which is an extra, was quality and given the low price of the rooms, not a problem.
Would strongly recommend this to anyone staying a short while in Iceland.

Room Tip: Since Reykjavik is a partying city, I would suggest requesting a room in the back of the hotel on an upper floor is you like quiet. This is what we did, and it fine.
