“Local and good deal”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

We ate dinner here in June and one of our local guides couldn't believe we knew about it, since primarily local police, workers and retirees frequent it. Food was good and plentiful. Enjoyed especially the leek soup and rice pudding (all you can eat)

“Mulakaffi, authentic, affordable, delicious Icelandic food”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

Mulakaffi on Hallarmula in Reykjavik:They served breakfast (pastry, cheese or egg sandwiches, and coffee), and lunch and supper (soup and freshly baked bread, fish or meat with rice or potatoes, salads and cold and warm side dishes, and tea or coffee and sweets) for about 1500 krona($14-$15). These are fresh, home cooking style, and the price is very good. Trust me, you can't find cheaper than this. This is a great place to eat Icelandic food amongst Icelanders.

“Cheap”
Reviewed May 12, 2014 via mobile

The food was very good and very cheap for its location. Free tea, coffee, soup and salad with your meal and all the food was Scandinavian.

“Good No Fuss Icelandic Food”
Reviewed May 5, 2014 via mobile

If you want to do it like an Icelander and don't need pretentious fuss this place is a must. Plus the staff are very friendly.

Having grown up with Scandinavian parents, their lunch time offerings (they change daily) were all familiar options -- beef stroganoff, breaded pork chops with gratin potatoes, boiled fish and potatoes or fried sausage. All entrees came with unlimited salad, beets, red cabbage, etc., soup (was cream of mushroom) and rice pudding with optional cream, raisins and cinnamon sugar to add...plus coffee and tea!

“A real Reykjavik eating experience - cheap, friendly and plentiful”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

We discovered the Mulakaffi from Trip Advisor. It opens at 7.30 a.m. for coffee and Icelandic Doughnuts and cakes. Lunch with unlimited soup, bread and salad plus main course is very reasonably priced from 12.30 until 2.00 every day but Sunday and again from 5.30 Monday to Friday for an evening meal. Forget about how expensive Reykjavik is to eat if you visit the Mulakaffi. It is quite hard to see the name because the sign is in small leters and it looks a bit like a public building but it is in the road on the left hand side of the Hilton Nordica, 20 yards down on the left hand side on the ground floor of a larger building. It is indeed a place that locals eat. You are offered several pieces of fish or lamb with the main course and the fish is the best I've ever tasted. Soup and bread and salad is plentiful and there are local newspapers on the table and coffee is refillable free.
