Just returned from a fabulous week in Iceland. The apartment was clean and very comfortable. The owners were very helpful. The location is great and the views from the apartment were fantastic.

We have just returned from a 3 day trip to Reykjavik. This is a great apartment with fantastic views on 3 sides. We could see snow on the hills and watch the small planes fly past and landing at the local airport. It is very warm and comfortable with snuggly duvets and pillows and has everything you may need for easy self-catering. Ragnar and Mildrid are very friendly and helpful and kindly allowed us to check in when we arrived after an early morning flight. Has Wi-Fi and cable TV with some English channels. In quiet residential area with free parking but only 5 minutes from 'town'. Only 2 of us stayed but there is room for 4.
Eating out is very expensive although we had a great meal at Ostabudin. Easy to reach by turning left out of the apartment about 5-6 minutes walk to the end of the road and just down on the left. Super bakery/coffee shop also about a 5 minute walk - also turn left out of the apartment. Bonus supermarket is also about 5-6 minutes in same direction.
Iceland is very beautiful and the people are very friendly. Will return - to Iceland and this apartment!

This apt. is exactly as pictured. One additional plus was that we were overlooking the local airport and saw planes flying right by our window....only a few times a day, but what a great sight. From the balcony, you can see the main church at the hilltop. The pond is not as visible as the picture shows, but the windows are so huge they make you feel like you are outside all the time. GREAT place. Ragnar is amazing. We were missing our flight to Isafjordur and he packed us in his car and drove us to the airport. He just couldn't do enough for us. He lives right below the apt....a great convenience because he was so helpful with restaurants, sights, etc. He even invited us to join him, his wife and two friends for a nightcap our last night....a special treat for us....great, fun people and so generous and accommodating...
To explain the location....Reykjavik is on a hill with HallgrÃmskirkja Church (the main site you can see from everywhere and a great place from which to view the whole city)...at the top of the hill. If you walk out of this apt. and go left, past the Holt Hotel, only 2 blocks away, and go another 3 blocks or so (about an 8 min. walk), you are at one of the main restaurant streets that runs from the church down to the OLD CITY (a MUST SEE)....Skolavordustigur (at the Puffin Store). If you go left on this street toward the old city, it merges with Laugavegur, the other main restaurant street. Ragnar recommended Ostabudin Restaurant (#4 now on T.A.). It's at #8 Skolavordustigur....to the left as you reach this street. Amazing food and prices are affordable, esp. at lunch.
To get here from the airport, you just walk up to a bus outside (Flybus?) and ask if they go to the Hotel Holt. It costs about $17 for the 45 min. ride. You just walk back 2 blocks to #52. If you walk one or two more blocks past the Holt Hotel, there's a nice bakery. If you walk out to the right and then down the hill to the right (and then turn left at bottom), you can see an N1 gas station..... near the main bus station and Avis/Budget rent a car.... that has a 24 hour store...great for milk or an emergency need. After we left the Ostabudin, we walked about 2 blocks back toward our hotel to the supermarket....Bonus...that sells all you need to make a few meals at home. It's expensive to eat out in Reykjavik. Try Skyr if you like yogurt. It's thicker and delicious, a cross between yogurt and cheese. We brought our own Granola and mixed this with fruit and Skyr for breakfast....
We can't speak highly enough of Ragnar as a host. We loved his apt. Beds are comfortable. Bedrooms are on opposite ends for max. privacy. We had 2 TV's....a GREAT kitchen and amazing views....it's also close to a local indoor swimming pool, very common in Iceland....and the National Museum, which we never got to. We plan to return!

A lovely apartment in a great location, close to the centre of town and also a five minute walk from the BSI bus terminal. Great views of the town and scenery. The apartment is very well equipped and stylishly furnished. The comfortable beds made for a good night's sleep. I would certainly stay here again when visiting Reykjavik!

The bar is set so very high with this apartment. Everything is there. The day and night views are the best in Reykjavik. It is in the 101 area, so walking to everything is easy, and yet this area is quiet at night. The hosts are two of my favorite people, as they are kind and helpful and not intrusive. I meant to write this earlier. I stayed there alone for two weeks this time. It was a splurge so I could start to write a book. The accommodation is great for 2-4 people. The aesthetic is just right---classy and interesting without being too formal.

Perfect location just 5-10 minutes walk from the city centre and yet at the same time on a quiet street with virtually no traffic. Lovely panoramic views from balconies including of Hallgrimskirkja just up the hill. Free parking right outside, and never an issue finding space to park. Apartment was spacious and modern and perfectly clean with all the facilities you would need, including wifi for teenagers!. Thoroughly recommended.
