What a FUN day! I was picked up on time by Arni, our guide, in the coolest 4x4 truck I've ever seen. Little did I know this was a necessary vehicle to get us to our destination and back but in the most fun and exciting way! Arni was such a great guide and driver! He was courteous, patient, funny and so knowledgeable about Iceland. He really made the trip even more enjoyable with teaching us about his beautiful country. We stopped at many sites along the Golden Circle but never did we feel rushed. There was always plenty of time to snap photos and take in all the beautiful scenery. I have experience driving snowmobiles back in the States, however snowmobiling in Iceland surrounded by all its incredible volcanoes and mountains is a memory I will cherish forever! Highly recommended! Don't go to Iceland without doing this excursion with Mountaineers of Iceland. They are very professional and worth every dime!

Booked this trip through grayline Tours, but it was done by Mountaineers of Iceland. I did think that the day trip was expensive when we booked it, but we had fantastic conditions and it was worth every penny. We were picked up in a large 4x jeep, our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about Iceland. We went to the Gullfoss waterfall which was frozen and spectacular. We then headed to Langjökull, Iceland’s second largest glacier for our snowmobile trip. That was very well organised, warm snow suits and helmets were supplied and we then headed out for over an hour.

On the way back we say the Geysir hot springs and then went to Þingvellir National Park, which is one of Iceland’s most significant historical sites, as it was there that Iceland’s first parliament was founded in the year 930 AD.

Very interesting and enjoyable day

We booked to go on the Golden Circle tour with snowmobiling. The 4x4 pulled up promptly and we collected the rest of our group and were leaving the city before light. An enjoyable drive up through Iceland visiting the three main sites was then had with great and dry commentary from our guide, who also helped let us know the good places to get the photos we wanted. Following the waterfall our van filled with a number of other guests and in these crushed conditions we took to the glacier to snowmobile!
Unfortunately with very high wind speeds and blizzard conditions going was slow and a number of members of the car were feeling unwell as the driver had to get us back onto the road. We kept on progressing until after a couple of hours reached the top where we were told it was too dangerous to complete the snowmobiling. There was then three hours of little communication regarding any refunds and this ruined the trip back towards the city. Eventually our guide confirmed we would try and do quad biking to compensate. This was fun, but should have been communicated earlier, however, my fiancée who had not done it before felt the guidance given was very quick and she did not enjoy the pace of the pack to allow her to gain confidence.
A good tour, but lacking finesse in a number of areas!

was collected in a massive 4x4, bounced up the mountain (much laughter) the scenery was stunning, clothing you will need is provided, suits, balaclavas, helmets, even boots if you need them, so dont worry if you dont have the kit you may think you need.
there are toilets at the huts, but nothing else, you will have to take food or drink with you.
we were given driving instructions for the snowmobiles, and how to navigate the terrain, then we were off.
snowmobiles were difficult for me to manouver, as they are very heavy, but with a bit of extra tuition from our guides, I got the hang of it,and screamed with excitement/pleasure/ exhileration most of the way! all I need to say really is' fantastic! do it!

I did a Golden Circle Jeep Tour with snowmobiling two days ago. It was a great day both for sightseeing and activity wise. The weather was really good, which helped. I enjoyed the landscape we traveled through (sometimes like lunar soil), great for pictures. We had enough time to stroll about at the main stops we made: Þingvellir National Park, Geysir, Gullfoss waterfall. The highlight of the day was the 1 hour ride with snowmobiles on the glacier: apart from the new experience, which was fun, the real treat was the silence all around (when the engines were off) and the infinite whiteness. Our guide, Andres, was knowledgeable and caring. Make sure you wear appropriate clothing as it is quite cold out there. Thank you Iceland!
