“Fantastic - Convenient, comfortable, and fully furnished!”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

We stayed in the three-bedroom apartment during our six-day stay in Reykjavik, and had a very positive experience. Thanks particularly to Gumi and Renata for their kind help to us throughout our stay in helping with tour/transportation arrangements, and general info on the town.

RR is conveniently located walking distance from the main attractions in Reykjavik: 2-3 blocks from the waterfront, 1 block from Laugavegur (the restuarant/bar street), 15 minutes from the wharf, 15 minutes from the Hallgrímskirkja .... you get the point. Location is quiet, set on a 1-way road. Neighbours I ran into were friendly as well.

Regarding the apt layout: We were in the 3BR at Hverfisgata 45, which is a "flat" in a building separate from the main RR house where the check-in counter is. In fact, the individual rooms are in the "main" RR house, while the larger apartments are in the back. This means that the apartment-style flat had total privacy. Living + Dining room was spacious enough for some group tv + board game sessions (though there is only 1.5 couches, so you'll need to pull up some dining table chairs if you play in the living room). Also: there is only one bathroom amongst 3 bedrooms, so it might take everyone a while to get ready in the mornings/evenings if you have the same wash-up routines!

As advertised, the apartment was indeed fully equipped, with pots/pans, cutlery, glasses. Food included in the price covers unlimited corn flakes, milk, orange juice. There's a grocery store 5 min down the road where we bought some breakfast supplies. RR also supplied us hard boiled eggs when we ran out. RR was also generous with their toiletries (Greenland brand). Washer/dryer in the washroom; no detergent provided (but yes, dishwashing detergent comes in the kitchen).

One tip: the TV at first glance only has 4-5 channels. But you should access the full list of channels via the menu (not the up-down buttons, strangely). Happy surfing!

This is a hotel and apartment. Very spacious with everything you need. Service is exemplary. We had one issue which was resolved promptly. The management and staff are outstanding. Location is perfect.

Room Tip: I would choose a room on a higher floor to be off the street level.

We enjoyed our stay at this small and friendly hotel. Good sized room with comfortable beds. Perfect location just one minutes walk from the main shopping area and from the waterfront. One unusual point is that they don't have a breakfast room, instead you eat breakfast in a kitchenette area in your own room. You get a basket with breakfast goodies and wake every morning to find freshly baked bread hanging on your door knob still warm. We thought this arrangement sounded strange but we found it worked really well. I would certainly stay here again.

We arrived to a nippy and cloudy Reykjavik and fortunately everything about Reykjavik Residence Hotel was in contrast to the weather. My wife and I stayed for one night in Reykjavik after touring the island on the Ring Road and there were a number of choices in town and we were so happy to have made a choice to stay with the Residence.

The check-in was friendly and casual and we were taken to a new building which is a few minutes next to the original building – they renovated a historical building and turned it into three stories of guest rooms and let me say, how wonderful and tasteful the building is. Just like the original building, it’s pure white on the exterior but inside it was a mix of the past (such as hallways full of captioned photos and antique books) and new wooden furniture made to be cozy and plush. We booked a “deluxe studio” and were taken to the top floor of the building into a 1-bedroom apartment with separate living room and bedroom. The slight pain of pulling our luggage up three flight of stairs is immediately mitigated when we saw the high ceiling lined with wooden beams and the numerous sun windows on the roof which made a room apartment even roomier. My wife and I were thoroughly impressed by how new, comfortable and clean everything is and the view to the street and small garden to one side of the building enhanced the feeling that it’s an oasis. By now I think this studio has totally exceeded our expectation and it even came with cereals, free carton of milk and orange juice so we can make our own breakfast in the morning.

The location is superbly convenient (and the city is very small in any case), all the activities desks and shop were 1-2 blocks away and the church was a 10 minute walk, Harpa and Viking sculpture also a 10-15 minute walk in a different direction. Even though we are an active independent couple who enjoy having the freedom of a car and make our own schedule, we can totally understand why people would want to choose a perfect hotel like this and base their traveling on day trips out of Reykjavik. We certainly would look forward to coming back to the hotel every night to sleep in the super comfortable bed at the end of a long day.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor rooms for the best view, high ceiling with wooden beams and roof windows.

The entire stay with Reykjavik Residence Hotel is an A+ experience. Before the trip, the stuff was very nice and replied every email within one day. When we arrived the hotel, the stuff also helped us find a free parking lot.
The rooms were super comfy, clean, and spacious for five people to stay in one suite. We really enjoyed sleeping in fresh bed sheets. Besides basic equipment such as TV and free wifi, there were a washer/dryer and a full-equipped kitchen with coffee marker and refrigerator in the apartment. Detergent was available at the front desk. The hotel also provided whole series of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion, which smelled pretty good and seemed very nature. This is a hotel that I would definitely recommend people to stay.

I absolutely loved this hotel! Great value for what you get as well. The location couldn't have been more perfect...one street over from all the action, so it's quiet enough at night (which is important in Reykjavik since the 200 bars all stay open till the early hours in the morning and can be bumping with music). The staff was so helpful and courteous. The rooms were perfect sized with mini kitchens, comfy beds, great toiletries, and stocked with cereal, juice, milk, tea and coffee. I have already, and will continue to recommend this hotel to friends!

This hotel is in a very central location in Reykjavik with very pleasant and helpful staff. Beautiful room and a very relaxing environment. Wi-fi and TV. The room was well equipped for self catering and coffee, juice and cereals were provided free of charge. Very enjoyable stay.
