“Perfect. The staff is so helpful and nice.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

My friend and I stayed here for a few days in April and the accomodations were great. We stayed in the Annex, which is just a few buildings down from the main hotel. The Annex had just opened and was beautiful. Our room had a small but complete kitchen with a table for 4, a bedroom with 2 twin beds and two other sleeping areas and a very nice big bathroom.
We would ask directions for everything and the staff always was efficient and would hand us a printed out map with the hilighted trail for us to follow! and off we would go. We asked for recommendations for restaurants and each one they suggested was great.
The hotel is in a very central location. You can walk to almost everywhere and if you need to be picked up the hotel will arrange it for you.
I had a major family emergency while I was there and the staff could not have been more helpful. They let us print off different things at all hours and we just so so nice.
Stay here.

What a gem of a place! We stayed in the two-bedroom apartment and it had everything that one could possibly need when you are staying in a home away from home! The kitchen was well stocked, so we ate most breakfasts at "home" and dined in a couple of nights. There are grocery stores nearby and with all of the cooking utensils, cooking meals was easy. There is even a washer and dryer in the apartment. The living/dining area was quite large and comfortable, so that the four of us could sit around in the morning, drinking coffee and planning our day.
The staff were amazing, friendly and always there to help with any need. One night, we were cooking spaghetti and needed olive oil. The staff were so happy to provide it for us. You need laundry soap? No problem! Special thanks to Renata, who was always there with a smile and a helping hand!
The location of this hotel is one of the best features. It is right in the heart of Reykjavic's lovely downtown and a five-minute walk to the harbor. It is easy to see why this hotel ranks near the top of the Trip Advisor list. In fact, that's what made us book here. Thanks, Trip Advisor!

We were staying in the Residence suites, 1 bed lux appt and it was excellent. The hotel is in a great location and whilst, yes there are roadworks they really don't have any impact whatsoever on your stay. The rooms were lovely and quiet, spacious, tidy and comfortable. The main streets in Reykjavik for shops, cafes, restaurants etc are all within very easy walking distance!

Room Tip: we had a top floor room which was lovely and quiet.

Myself and my partner stayed at Reykjavik Residence apartments mid December and can't speak highly enough of the accommodation and the service received by the friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in room 3 which was spacious, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. The room contained a comfortable and good sized double bed (2 beds pushed together) and was equipped with a small but perfectly adequate kitchenette. The bathroom too was v clean with a powerful hot shower. As has been mentioned in previous posts, the hot water DOES smell somewhat of sulphur but this does not linger on your skin and it is something you get used to. Other small touches which were appreciated were the hairdryer and fluffy dressing gowns in the wardrobe. As the holiday had been booked as a birthday treat by my partner the staff had also arranged for a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine to be left in the room -  fantastic! Because the room is classed as an apartment we weren't expecting a daily cleaning/tidying service but this IS included - fresh towels, clothes folded and bed remade each day. The breakfasts (as has been mentioned repeatedly) were superb. A varied and plentiful tray arrived each day, along with a bag of fresh bread outside the door each morning. This was more than sufficient for a filling breakfast AND picnic for our day trips! This certainly kept costs down! I must also mention the great service we received from the staff. In particular the young lady (I can't recall her name) who took the time to advise and make suggestions for our trips out.  V helpful. The only thing I would say is that there were roadworks outside the hotel which made it difficult to actually navigate to the hotel's parking area - obviously this is totally out of the hotel's control and certainly not a criticism but it would have been helpful to have been pre warned about this and been given alternative directions. As I said though, only a small point in an otherwise A+ stay! Recommendations for your stay in Reykjavik - Golden Circle a MUST (Gullfoss waterfall is spectacular), the Geysers, Blue Lagoon (we did this straight from our flight as conveniently located close to airport) and for your tastebuds Icelandic fish and chips near the old harbour is definitely worth a visit (we got takeaway and took them back to our room.) To summarise - great apartments, amazing scenery, can't wait to come back again in the Summer!

This is the ideal base to explore Reykjavik. Upmarket self catering, although an excellent breakfast tray and fresh bread are, provided. Makes more sense than booking a faceless hotel chain. Hverfisgata runs parallel to Laugavegur (main shopping street/bars/restaurants etc) but is much quieter. Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff with lots of local knowledge of what to do and where to eat. Renate was a mine of information for us eg Seabarron on the Old Harbour for a wonderful lobster bisque. I think they have another Residence at 21 down the street, probably equally as good

Room Tip: We had a basement room which was very quiet but light. Buy some duty free wine/spirits at Keflavik a...

I can only recommend this place to anyone visiting Reykjavik. Everything has been great. Super nice staff, very nice and clean rooms with a kitchen, big and plenty breakfast with fresh, still warm bread from a local bakery. Within walking distance to everything. Reykjavik Expeditions Bus Terminal 5 mins walk. Main shopping street 1min walk, and since Reykjavik is so small pretty much all sights of the city within walking distance. You get A++ Service for a very discount price! Staff very friendly and helpful. We left a few items when we left and they sent it to us, we had it all back within 3 days after we got home. Would stay at this Hotel again anytime!

We were very happy with our choice of the Reykjavik Residence for our visit. Fellow travelers have pointed out all the pluses and we concur. Comfortable and perfectly situated with a superb staff especially the knowledgable, helpful and super sweet, Renata.
