“Excellent property”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

This hotel goes way beyond its 3 star hotel class. The property is immaculately maintained, and the rooms are decorated in a very tasteful modern style. It is very obvious alot of thought went into the interior design. The bed was very comfortable; one of the best I have slept on. The free in room orange juice, milk, and cereal was a nice touch. The location is a 2 minute walk to the main shopping street, and a 5 minute walk to the Gray Line bus terminal.

This place is FANTASTIC. Stay here for a couple days, and make sure you book the place ahead of time, because those rooms sell out fast!

Ths hotel is optimally located in the central town area. There is parking available in a small lot behind the hotel. Wifi is fast and furious.

Breakfast was a delicious tray of goodies (breads, jams, chocolate, cheeses) in the mini-fridge. You are welcome to eat from it at any time. They also provide cartons of orange juice and milk to use for free.

The staff were ultra-friendly and accommodating. We were upgraded for free to a 'superior' room upon arrival. That did not happen to me elsewhere in Iceland, despite staying at some other nearly empty hotels.

The room was gorgeous... nice and new, comfy new bedding and furnishings, clean kitchenette amply supplied with various appliances, pots, and silverware. This would be a great place for someone who wants to self-cater.

Astonishingly, this was nearly the cheapest place we stayed at during our Iceland vacation, AND the nicest. It leaves me wondering how they are managing to stay afloat!

Should I ever return to the country, I will be sure to book this place way ahead of time, to avoid messing around with inferior, pricier options.

This hotel fit our needs perfectly. It's situated just a street away from the main shopping street, and easy walking distance to all the main restaurants and shops in Reykjavik. We stayed in the 3 bedroom apt. It had basic amenities, heat was good, extra blankets. The shower was small and if you visit Iceland you have to get used to the sulfur smelling water. Make sure to buy electric adapters if you visit, though the front desk was happy to lend us 2 for our phones. We didn't get the breakfast... there is a market 2 blocks away and we had fun shopping there. I had rented a car so the free parking was essential. Most hotels in Reykjavik don't offer this.

The only negative was the noise from above one night. We stayed in the 2nd floor 3 BR apartment, not knowing there was a residence above, but a family with small kids stayed there one night and kept us up until midnight. The floors are very thin and uninsulated so you can hear everything. I would suggest talking to the front desk at time of booking to make sure you know if there is anyone staying above you.

Overall, this place was exceptional for the size (our family of 4 could spread out), amenities and location.

Room Tip: make sure to ask if there are guests above you... the sound from footsteps and voices can get loud.

We stayed for two nights. Would definitely choose again. Top marks for: very comfortable bed; excellent hot shower; well equipped mini kitchen area; quiet (despite having a street facing room); great central location; friendly, helpful staff; easy to leave luggage after checkout; very reasonable cost. Just wished we could have stayed for longer.

21 women on a girl's trip to Iceland...where on earth will you find accommodation to suit everyone that's within budget and a good location? The answer is here. This is a brilliant little find if you're coming to stay in Reykjavik. One street down from the main high street (there's kind of only one main street in the city!) so close enough to all the restaurants, shops & bars to be able to walk everywhere, but far enough away that you miss out on most of the late night drunken noise.
The staff were very welcoming and very accommodating. The accommodation is scattered between three different buildings which are all close by so not a problem. The rooms are furnished to a really high standard and beautifully clean. They all have some sort of cooking/kitchen facility ranging from a 2 ring hob and a microwave to a fully fitted kitchen with washing machine & tumble dryer. Perfect if you want to save a few pennies and not eat out all the time. There's a constant supply of fresh coffee for the filter machine in your room and a range of breakfast type foods so that there's something to snack on. The staff are more than happy to advise on trips and activities in the area and will book things for you with no hassle. The only bad thing - the sulphur tinge to the hot water is a little overpowering at first but you get used to it pretty swiftly - and the complimentary toiletries chucked into the bathwater take the edge of the smell if it gets a bit too much! Loved it and would definitely come back here again.

Room Tip: There are different buildings with different sized rooms/suites/flats so double check with the staff...

The good: It is a beautiful hotel. Very clean and every amenity they list is there. There is a charming lullabye bed set in one wall in the room, which was very charming. The breakfast they bring is plentiful for two, and then some. The employees in the house we were in, were very nice, polite, and helpful. Bjarki was a star! Anything we needed help with, he bounded up the steps to be of assistance. RR should be proud to have him on their staff! The room was great, clean and spacious.

The bad: Their are NO ELEVATORS. I am 60 years old, and have arthritis in my back and hips, so lugging a 40 pound piece of luggage up 3 stories, was interesting... Even after a great day out in Reykjavik, if walking around and then up the hill, the steps to the room was a challenge.
There was no one there that could help. We plan to return to Reykjavik. I would consider staying here again, but I would pack lighter, and get a room on the second floor!

We were first taken to the first building. We brought the luggage up a few steps, only to learn the house we were in was down the street. They DID call a taxi for us, and paid for it. They have an EARLY CHECK IN FEE, which even The Mark Hopkins in San Francisco does NOT have. When I tried to talk to the manager about it, and explained that we will be checking OUT even earlier, and didn't that counter balance it, he said NO, and the lady behind the desk said "you can check out any time."
I did know about the early check in fee in advance, it was not a surprise. I just tried to reason that we were checking out even earlier than we checked in. He did take a little off of that bill...but I still think it should be eliminated.

The shower was large and wonderful, except there was nowhere to put your soap or shampoo bottles. The escape route, out of the bathroom, does not seem to be something possible to do, and we checked it out from the outside of the building.

The ugly: there is NOTHING ugly to say about this hotel, or about Iceland. Reykjavik is a beautiful city, and the people are fantastic.

Room Tip: Just remember, there are no elevators.

Booked 3 nights in a studio apartment, but was upgraded to a superior upon arrival.
We rented a car so free parking was essential which the hotel provided. During check in we were moved to the new building 200m along the road. Bit of a hassle as we brought our luggage into the first building.

The room was immaculate, everything seemed new and the decor had a modern and clean look to it. The well stocked kitchen was amazing, complete with an iPod dock on the breakfast table. Go for the breakfast option as they give you so much for the price you pay. It was enough to make brunch when we were on the road. The tv had UK freeview channels on it.

There was a walk in shower (no bathtub) stocked with shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, conditioner. These were not resupplied every night, I had to ask the girl in the reception. The room also had a hair dryer.

There was a safe in the bedroom, and the bed was two singles pushed together. Also there were single duvet covers which I didn't like.

We took so many photos during our visit that we ran out of memory on the SD card. Luckily the hotel had iMacs (2013 model, connected to a printer) and we used it to transfer our pictures into a USB pen.

This is probably our all time favourite hotel that we have stayed in - now that is a bold statement!
