“Good place in a central location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012 via mobile

We had a fantastic night in Reykjavik. Try and be there for the weekend pub crawl if you can but bring you thermals if you're there in Winter. The hotel is in a great central location and the rooms are lovely and very tastefully decorated. The kitchen area is small but has everything you need. There is limited parking behind the hotel.

We were there for a long weekend. Nice clean apartment, 2min walk to everything, friendly staff. Breakfast not included, but can be delivered at the door for extra charge. Perfect for our weekend getaway.

First the only (and I mean only) flaw was that the bathroom doesn't have a shower that you can stand up in. Didn't bother me but might annoy some.

Otherwise:

HOTEL: great location close to centre and main shopping street but on a quieter road. No dining area that I could spot so assume breakfast is served in the room (we didn't pay for breakfast so don't know). All public areas clean and tidy. Has the feel of a friendly little B&B with hotel quality decor and service.

ROOM: literally like a showroom in the ikea catalogue! Lovely furnishings, cosy with sloping ceiling (loft room) but not so that you'd bang your head. Fairly spacious, good firm mattress, functional and well stocked kitchenette (microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, two electric jobs, fridge, sink, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans). Everything looked newly decorated. Window faced quiet back streets with a sliver of sea view. Bath was huge, poor shower as described above but not a big problem. Iceland seems like a bath country! Didnt hear other guests while we were there so very quiet. Basically loved the room.

SERVICE: absolutely wonderful! Perfect from the moment we booked (when they emailed us to ask when we'd arrive) to the moment we left. Also I think you can email them before you arrive with a shopping list and they'll get food items for you. Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. B&B friendliness, not impersonal like some hotels. They gve us some good advice on which tour to take for golden circle tour and booked excursions for us.

FOOD: we booked room only. There is a supermarket nearby that staff will direct you to. Made breakfast in our room each day and sometimes lunch too. Saved us a lot of money because Reykjavik is expensive!

OVERALL: loved this hotel, one of the best I've ever stayed in. Basically I am going back to Reykjavik one day and will stay here again, no question.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at this apartment hotel and found it truly wonderful. I booked on the basis of the trip advisor reviews I read and I was not disappointed. The location is superb, close enough to the centre but far enough to be peaceful. The staff are very pleasant and will organise trips for you and bus back to the airport. The small reception area is very warm and comfortable and theres a Mac and free wifi for you to use at a desk, which is helpful if you don't have your own device with you. We booked a large studio apartment which was very spacious. The kitchen and dining area was perfectly arranged and had everything you could need. This was handy for preparing breakfasts and the odd snack and cups of tea, and could easily handle full meals if required. The table extended too and there was seating for 4, even though there was only 2 of us. The bathroom was great and had a wet room style shower and underfloor heating. Plenty of storage in the wardrobe area. The whole room looked like a really nice Ikea room set - but bigger. The free wifi was a great bonus. Probably the best feature was the bed - I have NEVER slept in a more comfortable bed. It had a lovely warm deep mattress and a mattress topper too and cosy sheets. I could have stayed in it for the duration to be honest!! I am going to Ikea to buy a mattress topper for my own bed at home. Simply the best place I have stayed.

Room Tip: Our room was on the lower ground floor facing the street, so you would think it would be noisier, bu...

We stayed here for 4 nights in August 2012. We had a super-cute, all-new 2-bedroom apartment. Everything from the sheets to the furniture to the kitchen to the appliances were from Ikea -- kind of fun to be living in an Ikea showroom. Our only complaint was that there was only 1 bathroom. Also, it was on the 2nd floor of one of the handful of nearby houses that comprises this "hotel", and the steps were quite steep. But we definitely wished we had more time to hang out at the apartment and enjoy downtown Reykjavik -- the travel agent who set up our itinerary kept us out touring much more than we would have preferred. One nice touch, our daily maid service included restocking our fridge with a basket of staples. Generally, coffee grounds, milk, juice, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, cheese, ham, bread & pastries. The cupboard also had cold cereal, tea & crackers, I believe. There were some initial hiccups getting the TV and wifi to work properly, but the staff was helpful and competent, as others have noted.
The only real issue with the trip is how staggeringly expensive everything in Iceland is -- so much more expensive than Manhattan or London!

We stayed in Reykjavik Residence Hotel for the last night of our vacation and I would gladly stay again on another visit. Location was excellent, close to sights and shopping. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was lovely, spacious and comfortable with a small serviceable kitchenette. Our booking did not include breakfast, so I can't speak to that.

We stayed at this great little hotel for over a week, would definitely recommend it and would stay at it again. Great location for walking to restaurants, harbour, shopping, food stores and attractions. Although our room faced the main street, near a couple of bars, we found it fairly quiet and we are very light sleepers - no problems. The little kitchenette is perfectly outfitted to make hot or cold meals - I have dietary restrictions and had no problem buying food products nearby that I could cook and eat. The hot water in shower is really hot,...watch out,...but the water pressure is great. Sometimes we ran out of bathroom soap and shower gel as it wasn't replenished daily. Beds are really comfy and warm. But most of all we found the staff friendly with a strong service excellence approach to its visitors; not pushy, casual, but always professional.
