“Centrally Positioned Apartment Hotel”

It used to be called Domus Hotel. Very well positioned - less than 5 mintutes walk from the centre of Reykjavik. We shared we two other couples so the aprtment was for 6 - very spacious - nice relaxing and kitchen area.
We did not use them, but it also had a washing machine and tumble drier. With a large drying area in the bathroom. It would make sense for a longer stay or coping with wet clothes afer being out in the snow.
Very good value - four nights cost about the same as our first night's meal (eating out in Reykjavik can be expensive).

8 of us reserved this the 3 bedroom apartment for our 3 day trip to Iceland. The apartment had 3 rooms with beds, a living room where 2 more beds where set up, a full kitchen with table and 1 bathroom. The downside was that there was only 1 bathroom for 8 people, but we made it work so it never was an issue. The space was perfect and very clean and the price was right. Every morning there was a breakfast tray waiting for us in the fridge.
I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants that quasi hotel feel but at the same time that independent/apartment feel. Also the location is in the center of it all. We were about a 3 minute walk from the main street where all the shops, restaurants and bars were.

I recently stayed here for three nights with my husband and we were both really pleased with the hotel and the service from the staff. I couldn't fault the room, it was well decorated, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel offers free wifi, which we found useful for booking trips and if you need to print anything out there is a computer and printer in the reception area. The staff were polite, friendly and happy to help with advice on things to do and booking return flybus transfers. The hotel is situated one street below laugavegur, which is where you will find most of the shops, bars and restaurants. We stayed mid-week and it was very quiet at night; I imagine you would hear noise from the street at weekends but this is true of any of the central hotels. I also thought it was great value, especially considering that Iceland is a relatively expensive destination.

We chose the Residence because of its central location and because we needed parking for our hire car. We only stayed one night (our first night) but wish we had spent more time here (and less at Hotel Ranga!). We drove from the airport in the dark (using our SatNav) and found the place easily enough - parking is available in the road to the rear of the hotel and you can access the hotel from the rear, so it's easy to carry your cases in.

We had a large double room in the basement fronting the street. The room was very nicely furnished and very clean. Free WiFi worked well in the room. The kitchenette was well equipped (fridge, toaster, kettle, coffee machine) and the breakfast, which is left in the fridge for you, was good - milk, bread, jam, butter, 2 large cartons of juice, cheese and ham with cereal, tea & coffee in the cupboard.

The main shopping area is the next road up from the Residence and there are loads of places to eat - there is an excellent Vegetarian cafe one block away which is open in the evening. It's also easy to walk to the harbour and the Cathedral (Hallgrímskirkja) from the Hotel. If you visit the cathedral take the lift to the top of the tower for super views over Reykjavik (the bells will make you jump!)

The manager was very helpful - carried our bags, helped me park the car and changed the breakfast ham for cheese when we mentioned we were vegetarian!

We are thinking of returning to Iceland in the summer as we were unable to see everything because of the snowy roads - we visited in the last week in November. If we do return we will definitely stay here again!

I recently travelled to Iceland and stayed at the Reykyjakik Residence Hotel. This luxury apartment rental was clean, quiet (but only one block off the main strip) and the service was awesome. I highly recommend this accomodation.

What to say?
A very good experience like our entire trip there!

The staff in this small family like residence is very helpful and friendly (even while arriving at 1am!). There is a free internet access at the reception and a lot of information re excursions.

The flat (2 bedrooms) was very clean, well designed and quiet. in the fridge, everyday we got a plate of bread, cheese and ham which was very appreciated after a long night out.
The location is also very convenient as a few meters away from the main street where there are all the bars, shops and the tourism office.

I will definitely recommend this place for the great value!

I stressed so much trying to find a hotel in Reykjavik for me and my boyfriend, in the end I went for this place which I was also worried about because it was no way near as expensive as the others I'd seen and I worried that might reflect on the quality of the place. I couldn't have been more wrong.

How lucky I was to choose this place! Beautiful ground floor apartment, everything top spec with lovely cosy but modern furnishings. Breakfast bought in for you everyday. We used it to make sandwiches for lunch. The owner so lovely and friendly and it's in a great location, easy walking distance from everywhere, shopping, Hallgrímskirkja etc. Safe, free parking.

Comfy beds, clean, swish bathrooms. I really cannot recommend this place enough. Flat screen TV. Perfect size little kitchen (great as eating out in Reykjavik is super pricey!)

STAY HERE, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. One of the best holidays I've ever had in my entire life. Make sure you splash out and eat at the Fish Company, their food is like something off masterchef and go snowmobiling on the glacier, it's expensive but there is no feeling in the world like it.

Enjoy! :)
