Description: Cafe Loki offer Icelandic meat soup, Icelandic plate, homemade bread and cakes. Icelandic traditional homemade dishes are our specialty. You can taste fermented shark and dried fish but Icelandic meat soup and our Icelandic plates are most popular among the Rye Ice cream and Skyr cake. Beautiful view over Reykjavik, Hallgrimskirkja church and to mountain Blafjoll. Icelandic food.

“Quaint Little Cafe in Central Location”
Reviewed March 25, 2014 via mobile

Beautiful little Cafe near the city's main Cathedral. Recommended to us by a local, the menu is fully Icelandic.

Those brave enough ate Shark. Not sure any of them would repeat the experience :)

I had the hearty meat soup with the most amazing Rye bread I have ever tasted.

Food was good, prices reasonable and a very relaxed atmosphere.

“PRO/CON - Outstanding and Flavorful Introduction to Icelandic Food”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

INTRO
-During our first day in Iceland we arrived on an early flight to Reykjavik and we had to wait in a sleep-deprived state until our hotel was ready at 3pm. Throughout this time, we conducted a relaxed, zombie-like tour of the city and happened upon this cozy cafe which is literally right across from Hallgrímskirkja (tall church in the city center).
-We had heard of this place from the Iceland tourism videos shown on Icelandair and the food from those clips looked amazing. Upon entering, we were greeted by a pleasant staff and delicious aromas from various pastries.

PRO
-Great menu selection from breakfast/brunch. All food is FRESH and VISIBLE at the counter.
-The menu also includes PICTURES AND NAMES of all the foods so you know exactly what you're ordering.
-The Cafe is clean, spacious, and quiet.
-The staff is professional and courteous, we even saw the owner (having recognized her from the Icelandair videos).
-The Iceland skyr dishes were UNREAL! Highly recommend.

CON
-We only wish we had visited more than once!
-Prices are slightly above average compared to American meals. But you pay for the quality and uniqueness of the food.

“Excellent 'taste of iceland'”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

Found this cafe after we had visited the church.
Very basic cafe but excellent food.
We ordered several different plates between us to share so we could taste a lot of different things.
It was well presented and tasted great.
Well worth a visit if you are after some icelandic food.

“A taste of Iceland”
Reviewed March 22, 2014

While the food was very traditional I was disappointed in the ambience. It would be great if I were a 20 something but as I am a senior citizen, I like to have a bit of atmosphere. The next table to me was about 6 inches away. There were holes on the back wall where they must have taken some pictures off. It is right across from the front doors of the Lutheran Church so it is not hard to find. The service was great and it was crowded as it is a popular spot.
