You can taste fermented shark and dried fish but Icelandic meat soup and our Icelandic plates are most popular among the Rye Ice cream and Skyr cake. Beautiful view over Reykjavik, Hallgrimskirkja church and to mountain Blafjoll. Icelandic food.

“Nice typical islandic cafe”
Reviewed March 17, 2014 via mobile

A great little cafe bar near to the big church. Food was very good and a nice choice of typical islandic flavour. Again not a cheap place but well worth a visit. Food was tasty and fresh

“taste of traditional foods”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

Loki is right next to the big chuch. The waitresses are attentive and flexible about your order. They have a photo book of the food so you can see what you are getting. The food was interesting local and traditional. It is a cafe...meals are small ...tapas type...and light fare. Good coffee. Friendly. The food is good but it is not a great choice if you are starving and want a big dinner.

“Traditional icelandic food”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

If you want to try all types of traditional icelandic food under one roof, go to Cafe Loki and get one of their platters (better value than trying separate dishes), and finish with rhubarb crumble icecream and birch tea. We did just that. Did we like it? Well some of it- but thats a matter of taste- atleast we got to try the traditional food. The icelandic lamb soup was decent, but this soup was better at the Geysir cafe (next to the geysir hot spring attraction). I think every first time visitor should stop by for brunch or lunch, its right in front of the church, which is also a must see for every first time visitor.

“Great for reasonable, tasty Icelandic food”
Reviewed March 15, 2014 via mobile

This cafe was great- good portions, reasonable prices and lots of choice. It also had some good healthy options, and was a great way of tasting a few Icelandic specialities. I had the mashed fish and herring on rye bread- delicious! The rye bread ice cream was pretty great too. More of a lunch place than dinner.

“Great Icelandic food”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

Don't be put off by the location next to the Church and think this will be touristy crap! Its lovely Icelandic food with the locals, alongside the tourists. Pickled herring on rye was awesome. Enjoy.
