Description: Cafe Loki offer Icelandic meat soup, Icelandic sample plates, homemade bread and cakes. Icelandic traditional homemade dishes are our specialty. You can taste fermented shark and dried fish but Icelandic meat soup and our Icelandic plates are most popular among the Rye Ice cream and Skyr cake. Beautiful view over Reykjavik, Hallgrimskirkja church and to mountain Blafjoll. Icelandic food.

After reading reviews we went to try the tasting portions of traditional Icelandic food, the Hakarl, mashed fish, picked herrings, dry fish with butter, lamb pate, stew and stuff. Great to try without it costing a fortune. Little samples of hakarl are all you need, I would have hated to order if for dinner in a restaurant. Fabulous view of the church too. The rye bread ice cream was delicious!

We stopped for a coffee and my husband decided to try the mashed fish on Rye bread and I had carrot cake and cream, we were very pleasantly surprised at how tasty the mashed fish was, it was almost sweet with the Rye bread and the carrot cake was yummy. The service was good and they even provided an extra menu showing pictures of what the dishes looked like.

We saw a video on the aircraft on the way to Reykjavik which featured this restaurant and it looked very attractive so we decided to give it a try. It is just opposite a large church and you have a great view of it through the windows

Although it is a small cafe/restaurant we sat on the ground floor there was also an upstairs room. A very pleasant young man was waiting the downstairs tables and was helpful

We ordered the fish pie and trout tart plus two local beers. The food was so good and it was nice to try some authentic Icelandic cuisine.

Both meals came with plenty of salad and were very filling. We didn't have room for pudding which was a pity although on the side of the trout tart (layers if rye bread, trout and cream cheese) there was a small pudding in a separate dish which was also delicious. The prices were typical of the local restaurants but the food was worth the money

We were so glad we tried this restaurant and would highly recommend a visit

We stopped here for lunch on our first day in Iceland. We had just visited Hallgrimskirkja, and we were looking for something traditional for lunch. I ordered the smoked lamb on rye flatbread, my husband had smoked trout with cottage cheese on rye flatbread, and our friend had one of the Icelandic plates. My husband and I really enjoyed our meals, and they were the perfect lunch size. Our friend had a little more trouble with the pickled herring with eggs, but finished his plate anyway. We really enjoyed the rye bread ice cream, and the skyr cake with cream is heavenly! This is a great spot for a quick, tasty lunch while sightseeing. The view of the church can't be beat!

Very easy to find, Cafe Loki offers good luncheon food. I had an open-faced sandwich and it was excellent. My order came quickly.

I didn't find a great atmosphere here but the food was worth the visit.
