“A nice spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013

We had heard that this place served a lot of local cuisine. We came here for lunch and it was great. A variety of local dishes, a warm and friendly environment and a great view across the road to the catherdral.
The meal was very nice and a great way to sample some local food that you wont find in many restaurants. Yes there were a lot of tourists there but also locals came in as well. A couple of shots of Brennivin also warmed us up very nicely!!

“Lovely little place.”

Had a lovely sandwich at the cafe just as it started to snow outside. Its in a nice location with a lovely view out onto the church. You must try the Rye bread icecream when you visit.

“Quirky”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

We had lunch in cafe Loki: the menu is probably basic by Icelandic standards, but we found it exotic and fun. The decor is minimalistic and somehow retro. Service is functional and not overly friendly, that said the waitress was very accommodating ordering a taxi from us later on. We tried some of the local pastries (loveballs and other cakes), as well as the cheese + marmelade bagel (sounds awful but it was actually strangely tasty). The homemade rye bread was delicious. The coffee was hot and exactly what we needed. Overall, our pit-stop at the cafe was a welcome halt in a very windy and cold day.

“Original Icelandic”

one of the very few restaurants that actually offer old-style Icelandic cooking. Always nice to visit and the view doesn't harm either.

The staff was so kind and the cafe is located right next to the church. Beautiful views and great location. The food was delicious, I had their meat soup and shark :)
