Owner description: At The Cinema, Old Harbour Village No2, are shown quality Icelandic nature films; volcanoes, northern lights, flora and fauna. The Cinema is located in the loft of an old fishermen´s dwellings, where the fishermen used to mend their nets, tar their boats, salt their fish and overnight in bed bunks. Redoing the loft the atmosphere of the old life was kept as much as possible, even so that the salt smell still lingers, but the main object was to provide ideal settings for showing quality Icelandic nature and documentary films. By reading the reviews of our visitors on The Trip Advisor pages it seems that we are having success ...

“Very informative movies”
Reviewed June 15, 2014 via mobile

I loved the movies here at cinema 2. As I had already travelled around iceland was so interesting to see the stories of the two eruptions - the historical footage in the Vestmannaeyjar Islands documentary was amazing. Stunning footage of the 2010 Eyjafjallajokull eruption - awesome power.

“Very Exciting Photographic Overview of Iceland!!!”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

We viewed two great short films (approx. 1 hour) which captured the early history of Iceland and the more recent volcanic activities. Really great photography, and very good narration. Fun, small, comfortable environment. Definitely worth seeing!

We are so happy to hear that you liked your visit to our Cinema and found the films good and informative. The film maker has been working in the field in Iceland for over 35 years so he has filmed most part of Iceland, from the ground and air. Welcome back, the Cinema staff

“An hour of relaxation in a Cozy Cinema.”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

Tucked away in the Old Harbour in Reykjavik is a tiny little cinema. We went in April 2014 and only 3 of us there. It's not too expensive (around £7/8 for adults). The film was amazing as well as Informative. We were given a choice of films as we were the only ones there and saw 'The Birth Of An Island' - the story of Iceland. The hour went so quickly. Though a family run cinema the quality of the film is excellent and the sound system was superb. The son looked after us well and we enjoyed our hour at this quaint - out of the way attraction. (By the way - before or after the film pop into the Cafe next door for a Chocolate Brownie to die for!)

“Memorable for many reasons ”
Reviewed March 31, 2014 via mobile

Not only were the films very interesting and informative ....and the setting was simply amazing.

What summed it up for us was that the owner opened the cinema just for us as we had mixed up our times!! What a thing to do, a must visit if you are in Reykjavik.

“Beautiful movie of Icelandic geography”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

The movie shown in this cozy little theater with few seats was beautiful! The screen is large and the sound is good. The content of the movie is what we enjoyed the most- arial views of Icelandic glaciers and geography, nicely described and beautifully shot. Very picturesque and unique experience in Iceland. Lasts not more than half an hour-a nice way to break the day in Reykjavik.

Thank you very much for your good review.
We are very glad to hear that you liked our film. It sounds like you saw the new one about Vatnajökull National Park, which is such a beautiful area that it is hard not to make a good film about it. The filmmaker spent couple of years filming, as well as using some of his vast stock footage. Hope to see you again. The Cinema staff
