Owner description: At The Cinema, Old Harbour Village No2, are shown quality Icelandic nature films; volcanoes, northern lights, flora and fauna. The Cinema is located in the loft of an old fishermen´s dwellings, where the fishermen used to mend their nets, tar their boats, salt their fish and overnight in bed bunks. Redoing the loft the atmosphere of the old life was kept as much as possible, even so that the salt smell still lingers, but the main object was to provide ideal settings for showing quality Icelandic nature and documentary films. “Cosy and very friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013 via mobile

Called in on the off chance that they'd show the film for us, and they did! Closed the curtains, lit the candles and settled down on the sofa. First film pretty amazing, 2nd one a little hard to follow after a day sightseeing- need to be alert! Very educational though, and I like geology so all good.

The owner very friendly and welcoming,
As was the little dog wearing his Nordic woolie jumper ;0)

“Cozy place and impressive film”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

Visiting Cinema No2 is a great idea when starting you travel with a few nights in Reykjavik. It is a real nice place in the harbour of Reykjavik. The film is very impressive and informative. You'll get to know 'the birth' of Iceland, the impact of the volcano eruptions in 2010 and 2011 and more..

“Cozy space, wonderful owners, great volcano films!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

I traveled to Reykjavik with a friend who uses a wheelchair; we phoned the theater to ask if there were stairs. The owner told us there was a flight of stairs with 11 steps. We prepared to call it off, but the owner said without missing a beat that she would ask her husband to carry my friend up the stairs--and he did! It was really above and beyond, and they were happy to do it! Then we discovered that her husband is the filmmaker Valdimar Leifsson himself! They could not have been more gracious, and the films on Icelandic volcanoes were fascinating--superbly produced. Mr Leifsson's wife also took the time to explain the history of Icelandic volcanic activity to us, using a map. The space is so cozy, and the lovely blue building is a converted fisherman's house--the theater is in the loft space on the second floor. There is a slicker cinema just across the way also showing films about volcanoes, and perhaps worth a trip as well, but you won't make the personal connection or find the same warmth and passion for natural history and Icelandic culture, which are in abundance at Cinema No. 2! Very highly recommended--not to be missed!

“Expand your knowledge of Iceland and Reykjavik - Fascinating!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

A really great way to get an informative and thoroughly interesting insight and history of the island.
It definitely inspired me to want to come back and see so much more of Iceland.
Owner was very friendly and accommodating and really passionate about telling us more about the country and sharing local knowledge.
Icelanders really are proud of their country and I totally understand why!
Its only an hour out of your day so not a major attraction compared to others but well worth a visit during your walks around the city.
