Owner description: At The Cinema, Old Harbour Village No2, are shown quality Icelandic nature films; volcanoes, northern lights, flora and fauna. The Cinema is located in the loft of an old fishermen´s dwellings, where the fishermen used to mend their nets, tar their boats, salt their fish and overnight in bed bunks. Redoing the loft the atmosphere of the old life was kept as much as possible, even so that the salt smell still lingers, but the main object was to provide ideal settings for showing quality Icelandic nature and documentary films. After reading such wonderful reviews on trip advisor we thought this was the place to go if we had a free couple of hours. In fact, we planned our day around it even before we were on the plane to iceland. We arrived, today (march 17th) at 5.20 ( 10 mins before the films were due on) and waited outside in freezing cold for a good 15 minutes and it remained closed! It states very clearly on the door that the films are showed at 5.30 and 6pm. It doesn't state that it will be closed on any particular day of the year. Shame, we were thoroughly looking forward to it!

Dear Hadiejw,
We, the owners, are extremely sorry that your trip to our cinema ended the way it did. We are away for a short time but left the cinema in the hands of others. We can ensure you, and others, that guests coming to our Cinema will not be left standing outside closed doors without any explanation. Again we apologize and hope you will give our films another chance if you come back to Reykjavik.

Every visitor to Iceland should go to this little homely Cinema ........Each day its starts at 5.30 pm,so does'nt interfere with your day out or Dinner!
It shows 2 brilliant & informative films about the creation & evolution of Iceland. The owner of the Cinema is also the film maker!
Also there is a great little local Cafe next door-----great value ( CAFE HAITI )

spent valentines night watching films in a relaxed enjoyable atmosphere as couldnt go see the northern nights due to cloud cover..was a great experience and one i will remember as the venue was nice and set in old fishermans cottage near the sea front in the old harbour area. The hosts were very nice and enjoyed a chat with the owner and the film maker and got to meet their new puppy who was as cute as a button too. Was nice to have the chance to talk with someone about Iceland and find out about the history of the fisherman and surrounding area.

The films were all very interesting and well shot with good soundtracks too..Watched one film twice but happy to do so as saw things i missed the first time and could have happily watched it again..

deffo reccomend this attraction to anyone with couple of hours to spend in rekjavik...will go back again when we come back either in summer time or winter to try to see them elusive lights...

In our recent trip to iceland we had the good fortune to attend a viewing of the volcanic eruption in a little theater called cinema2 (the theater has the atmosphere of a village coffee shop) it is located in close proximity to the harbor and affords you the opportunity to appreciate the scenery either befor or after the showing.
The film exciting and extremely well done.
The highlight of this event, was the realization that the people who operate cinema2 are actually the people who shot the areial footage over the volcano during the eruption. this then gave them the capability of presenting it in such a way to convey the excitement and emotions that one would experience when one is in such close proximity to an event of such magnitude.
It was over whelming.
After the showing you have the opportunity to speak to the personnel of cinema2 and get an insight to their actual emotions and anxieties tha was experience during the flight over an actual eruption,
in addition to the showing we had the opportunity and good fortune to speak to an icelandic guide who provided us with points of interest, which made our trip a compete success.
