“Fantastic choice for a family visit!”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

We have recently returned from a brilliant stay here. The beds are super comfy and cosy. The rooms are huge. The apartment was perfect for our family with three huge young men! We have no complaints at all...despite having very high standards. (The enormous television was football watching heaven.)
The host, Thora, was polite, friendly and helpful- her English is perfect too.
The position of the apartments is extremely convenient- 5 mins from a bakery/cafe and a supermarket. The main shopping street is not far away either. All in all, we highly recommend anyone who wishes to self cater to stay here.

Room Tip: The penthouse has 4 double rooms and a great view of the cathedral- room 402.

Waking up our first morning to a jackhammer was not pleasant, or each sunsequent weekday morning. The walls were thin and could we could hear the water running in the next kitchen, which was at our headboard...... The apartment was not very clean, but the duvet covers and towels were. The laundery had 3 washing machines, 2 of which did not work. The 2 dryers took several hours to dry the clothes. The laundry room was very dirty. Otherwise, the place was ok. First trip in Eurpoean country, so these accomodations may pass as normal?

8 of us arrived for a weekend in Rekjavik and we had only booked for 6 people. The chap who owns the place(i forget his name) was very accommodating. He let us have the penthouse apartment for a slight extra cost but split between 8 people it was nothing. The bedrooms are comfortable, the bathrooms and communal areas all very clean. The best part was being able to see the Northern lights from our balcony! Would recommend staying here to anyone.

The rooms are decent, except if you have any sort of family situation. There is a pull out couch in the main area and what is effectively one massive bed in the other room. I stayed here with my brother and my parents and (4 of us) all of us were getting maybe 4 hours of sleep maximum per night.

The walls are paper thin, and between the constant construction, the maid slamming and banging things, the pipes which sound like African rain sticks, and the ability to hear every word your neighbor says, we gave up on trying to get any rest during our stay. Oh and all of that racket starts at a cheery 5 am.

Also, there is no phone in the building whatsoever. So unless you have some kind of international plan on your cell phone forget about trying to make a local call.

All of us agree, we would never stay here again were we to make another trip back. Bring earplugs if you're brave enough to stay here. This place is not for tourists!

Stayed there for one week, perfect for discovering the city. It was the first time we decidet to stay in an apartment instead of a hotel and I didnt regret it for a second. You feel so much more like a local and not as a bloody tourist

At the cheaper end of the scale (not cheap but nothing is in Iceland) and basic. From the outside the accommodation looks nice enough - it's modern. Inside, at first glance it looks OK. Very IKEA-ish but upon closer inspection everything is jaded and a little cheap. There is no 'woman's touch' - most of our rooms had no wardrobe, pillows were thin, beds not comfortable, kitchen utensils sparse, the wi-fi didn't work (perhaps not surprising given the owner admitted he didn't pay for it) much to the angst of the kids. Also when we arrived one of the 4 bedrooms was locked which meant hassle phoning the owner, leaving message, having to hang around and arguments amongstt he kids etc etc. Not a crisis but unnecessary 'ball-ache' stuff. On the plus side there was a bath as well as a separate shower and proximity to town wasn't bad. Not bad but just a little bit extra effort by the owner could make a big difference. If you can afford better go for it.

We booked a 3 bed apartment for a weeks stay in Reykjavik. The apartment was advertised for 8 people, there were 5 of us.
If i am honest, i think if there were 8 adults it would have been a tight squeze. The 5 of us had just enough room.
It is in a good location, 5 min walk to shops, 15/20 to the main centre. A mini bus from the airport was around £70... between 5 not bad at all, for a 40 min trip.
The apartment was very warm, with temp controls in each room. The fixtures and fittings were very good quaility.
Everything seemed to be straight out of IKEA.
Free Wifi is a bonus, and the apartment and public areas were all very clean.

Few minor grips, advertised as 2 bathrooms..... kinda true, 1 bathroom, and 1 room with a urinal and shower, not great with 5 girls! Second shower wasnt as good as the one in main bathroom.
also said there was a DVD player in apartment, there wasnt, however, that is all i can moan about.

The city its self is expensive. Take alot of spending money!!! We went on whale watching, golden circle, northern lights, and glacier & waterfalls.... all in all costing £400per person Eating out is around £30-40 a head, pint of local beer £5
These apartments are a great base, beds are comfortable, and its very clean.... we loved it!
