We went on the Golden Circle Bike Tour in late August 2012 as part of our honeymoon. Of all the activities we participated in while in Iceland, this was by far our favorite. Stefan, our guide, easily handled our large group. He did an excellent job informing us about the various locations we traveled to, and even kept things interesting between the major sites.
The riding portions of the trip were very easy for us. Our group had a wide range of ages and skill levels, and Stefan waited at several points along the ride in case any one was having trouble. Mostly downhill, the total distance was split in to two separate rides. This allows you to be relaxed about the ride and just take in the amazing scenery. It is easy to stop and take pictures and not worry about falling behind.
The bikes were all pretty new and in very good condition; they are mostly Trek mountain bikes. The provided bike helmets were also very clean, in case people worry about such things.
During the rest of our time in Iceland, we kept commenting that each tour we were on would have been better with Stefan. If we had known this in advance, we probably would have started our trip with their bike tour around Reykjavik, just so we could have learned about the city from great guides.
