Description: Baejarins beztu pylsur (English: The best hot dog in town) often shortened to simply "Baejarins beztu", is a popular hot dog stand in central Reykjavik, Iceland. In August 2006, the British newspaper The Guardian selected Baejarins beztu as the best hot dog stand in Europe. The majority of Icelanders have eaten at Baejarins beztu. It's downtown near the harbor and has been open since 1937. Foreign visitors are often brought to the stand to introduce them to the hot dogs there, which are often called "the Icelandic national food." Among famous people who have eaten at Baejarins beztu are Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, and James Hetfield, vocalist of the popular heavy metal band Metallica. A hot dog condiments include ketchup, sweet mustard, fried onion, raw onion and remoladi, a mayonnaise-based sauce with sweet relish. Hot dogs are often ordered with "the works," i.E., All condiments, or in Icelandic "eina med ollu".

These hotdogs (made from beef, pork, and lamb) are incredible. Get it the Icelandic way with 'everything' or "eina með öllu." This includes ketchup, raw onions, fried onions, sweet mustard, and a special relish remoulade.

When you bite in the sort of crisp skin of the hot dog you can literally hear it snap as it breaks and some of the flavor gushes into your mouth.

On our few day trip in Iceland we probably ate here at least 5-6 times. Super cheap, fast (when there isn't a line...which is almost never) and a great experience to try the Icelandic national food!

This place is a must visit!

This was for sure the most interesting hot-dog I have ever had. It didn’t taste bad by any means, but if you like food to taste how you expect it to taste, you might not like it.

This really is not a restaurant, however, judging by the queue something nice was about to happen. For a bargain you can buy two things. Only two things - coke and probably the best hot dog I have ever had. A bun, pylsa, sweet mustard, onion, pan fried onion, ketchup and probably some kind of grated cheese (?) makes the tastiest combination you can get.
Just a pity we were there only once!

These "hotdogs" are so tasty! And they are available almost everywhere! The sweet mustard really caps it all off. In a 6 day trip to Iceland, my friends and i probably ate about 35 total. Couldn't get enough. Writing this is making me hungry!

hard to believe, but yes, this is the most recommended and popular restaurant in Reykjavik, and with reason. the hot dogs are very tasty, and is the case with many foods in Iceland, it is the sauces that make them delicious.

there is often a line to be found here and many parents dropping off their kids to get in line. there is not much room to eat here, especially in the winter, but that does not take away from the good food offered.

must visit on your walk through Reykjavik
