In August 2006, the British newspaper The Guardian selected Baejarins beztu as the best hot dog stand in Europe. The majority of Icelanders have eaten at Baejarins beztu. It's downtown near the harbor and has been open since 1937. Foreign visitors are often brought to the stand to introduce them to the hot dogs there, which are often called "the Icelandic national food." Among famous people who have eaten at Baejarins beztu are Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, and James Hetfield, vocalist of the popular heavy metal band Metallica. A hot dog condiments include ketchup, sweet mustard, fried onion, raw onion and remoladi, a mayonnaise-based sauce with sweet relish. Hot dogs are often ordered with "the works," i.E., All condiments, or in Icelandic "eina med ollu".

“Hot dogs in Iceland? Yes!!”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

In a tiny off the beaten path location there is the hot dog stand of Reykjavik. People lining up and cars pulling up for a great treat. They are known for the Clinton Dog, mustard only, but get one with everything! A lamb hot dog with everything -- remoulade sauce, brown sauce, fried onions, diced sweet onions, and a mustard sauce. A delicious hot dog that when you bite into it is crunch from the fried onions and sweet onion, and the sauces meld together perfectly. Have one or two, they take credit cards. A fun stop downtown near the shopping area and seaport.

Love the Icelandic hot dogs and all of their sauces and the onion! A must visit when you are in Reykjavík. The hot dogs are cheap as well so that is a bonus!

“Yummy hotdogs!”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

Order these with everything -- remoulade sauce, brown sauce, fried onions. They are really yummy! The hotdogs have a wonderful snap when you bite into them & have good flavor. It's a great snack stop while exploring the city -- cheap too (and they accept credit cards)

“Yum Yum”

These hotdogs are cheap and delicious and you have to take a wander down to the harbour area to try one. They cost about £2 with everything on..everything being ketchup, mustard, fried onions, crispy onions and hotdog sauce
Its easy to find if you follow the road to the Elding whale watching centre

“Delicious Delectable Dogs”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

My wife and I recently visited Iceland and on recommendation from the Trip community we knew we definitely had to visit the famed hot dog located in downtown Reykjavik near the harbour. Initially we had difficulty in finding the stand and walked around a bit until we noticed locals all heading in one direction so we followed the throng. The queue was quite short with each person getting served quickly, until its your turn, and then you have to order 'the works'.
A 'dog' costs about £2.50 each and the 'works' include ketchup, fried onion, raw onion, sweet mustard and remolaoi, a mayonnaise type sauce with sweet relish. The first taste is the sausage & sauces then you taste the fried onion then the crunchy raw onion. It just brings a smile to your face as all you can say is mmmmm, they are simply delicious and yes you will join the queue for seconds or even thirds. The stand seems to be open all hours into the wee hours so if your in Reykjavik it's a must try.
