“Top location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2014

We spent four nights at 37 Apartments and stayed in the 'Artist's Studio', which is a concrete building behind the main one. The apartment is huge. The beds are in a loft which is reached via a very steep ladder/staircase. (And because of the relatively low ceiling, it helps if you a not too tall.) The whole place has no windows (not a problem, because outside there's nothing to look at except the car park), but a glass roof. It is a relatively 'cold' place with a concrete floor and not a lot of furniture. The kitchen offers what you might need. The bathroom is what you could call 'spartan', but adequate.

Positive aspects worth mentioning: This place is really right in the center of Reykjavik. The owners are friendly and helpful. We got a mobile phone for the duration of our stay that gave us free calls (within Iceland). Wi-fi and parking are free - the latter a definite advantage in the city center. And as far as breakfast is concerned: There is an excellent bakery just across the street. A Bonus supermarket and lots of restaurants, bars etc. are also in the vicinity.

The 37 Apartments refers to their street address in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. The apartment entrance is on a side street so it is a little hard to find initially. Eiger the landlord however can contacted by phone using the reception button at the entrance. Our apartment was on the second story away from the mainstreet and was quiet and spacious. Although it was sparingly furnished, it was roomy and had everything we needed. The rate was about 125E which we felt was good given the location and convenience. If you are going on bus excursions or the airport, you can be picked up at the nearby Hotel Fron. Otherwise, it is an easy 10 minute walk to the main bus terminal. We would rent there again.

If you are looking for a modernly equipped and newly renovated flat/studio in the middle of the city center of Reykjavik - this is the spot. We had the great pleasure of spending a couple of days in the "penthouse" flat on the top floor and we were highly satisfied with "everything" with regards to the rental object. The landlord Ægir welcomed us with great hospitality and remained helpful throughout our stay. Even if the location of the apartment is in the middle of the busy night life street of the town we heard little or no disturbing noise from people or traffic. The only element to be aware of is a very steep staircase to the top floor – it was by no means any challenge for us but it may be of interest for those with disabilities.
All in all we highly recommend this apartment and will by no doubt try to stay at the same flat next time we visit Reykjavik!

This apartment was wonderful. It is located right in center of Reykjavik; it feels brand new. We had a 2 bedroom/ 1 bath apartment on top floor of downtown building. The apt was spacious, beautiful hard wood floors, comfy furniture, plenty of space for everyone. It is attractively decorated in contemporary Scandinavian design- and everything was super clean. The manager is excellent - so friendly and helpful. As a really kind act, he loaned us a cell phone loaded with Iceland numbers etc, so if we needed to reach him or anyone else in Iceland, that we could use his - really thoughtful person.

Stayed here over Easter and loved it.
Its right on Laugavegur, the main shopping street with restaurants and shops a stones throw away, nothing is too far.
There is a small parking area, no actual allocated space per room, but plenty of room for cars.
Inside its a spacious apartment, large open plan lounge, kitchen, diner... nice size washroom with shower, and a huge bed! it was like 2 extra king size mattresses together.
Although we only used the kettle! The kitchen had everything you would want including cooker, oven, pots, pans and even a dishwasher!
The lounge area had a nice sofa, huge Samsung smart tv, ipod dock speaker stereo.
Nice size dining table for 6 people.

Just across the road is a pickup point for the airport bus outside Hotel Fron. Book it in Hotel Fron, a mini bus collects you and shuttles you to the main bus station where you transfer to the proper airport coach.

Would definitely use it again.

We were very pleased. Great location on a street filled with shops. We rented the spacious top floor unit and loved the patio with its panoramic view, skylights and decor. Aegir, the owner/manager was very responsive to all our email inquiries and met us when the Flybus dropped us off. The apartments are not readily seen on the street but they are directly across from a closed business called the Monte Carlo. Bathroom was generous and we appreciated the double sink. Noise is an issue on Friday and Saturday nights. Bring a noise machine if you can. The bars are open until 5:00 a.m. and the drunks are rowdy and noisy and this street was quieter than others. Bear in mind, the noise issue will haunt tourists in many places around the city.

Room Tip: The top floor unit or the ground level one around back seem to suffer the least amount of noise on F...

Stayed here at the end of April.
The location couldn't have been better. Very central, just set back from one of the most famous roads in Reykjavik with shops and restaurants and bars.
The apartment we had was on the ground floor and back facing which was perfect. Reykjavik is well known for its fantastic party atmosphere at the weekends but it meant in this apartment there were no noise disturbances either!
The apartment was very large with all appliances including hairdryer, iPod docking station and dishwasher.
Also the decoration was stylish and contemporary yet homely at the same time. Beds very comfortable!
The owner who greeted us on arrival was friendly and informative.
This was a perfect place for us to stay and the space and location were brilliant - couldn't recommend it highly enough!
