Was recommended this by other guest and told it was hard to find (they were right) but when we did it was great food and great value for money

“Best Fish and Chips !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

We couldn't get a seat in Harry's the first night we tried and we were tired and hungry so went to the other restaurant in the street.

The next night we went earlier into Harry's and WOW! We both had the fish and chips. I consider myself an EXPERT on fish'n'chips as it is my lifelong favourite meal. This restaurant was up there with the very very best (which in my opinion is the famous Fishy Fishy in Kinsale, Co Cork) but the portions are larger in Harry's. We both completely cleaned the plate, the fish was of such a brilliant texture it melted in the mouth.

We liked everything about this place from the helpful but not pushy Harry to the ambience and the drinks.

Highly recommended and deserves to be in the top ten restaurants listed for Reykjavik.

“Great fish”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

We arrived without reservation on a wet tuesday night. Warm welcome. Small place with just a few tables. Restaurant busy with mixture of americans & brits - all friendly. I had the fish & chips - enormous portion & very, very delicious fish. However, the dish was very salty on the whole. My Husband had salmon with veg and rice. He said it was delicious but did not share - that says it all! Husband helped me finish mine & no room for pudding. Would definitely return.

“Great menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012

I agree with the positive reviews. The portions were generous and delicious and the waiter was eager to help us with our sightseeing. The atmosphere is elegant and the prices were decent. Plus the menu has something for almost everyone except it didn't have steak as I recall.

“Brilliant is an understatement”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012

WOW!!!! where do i start?? Firstly i looked for this place because of the tripadvisor reviews already giving it a glowing report. We ate there twice in the end as it's right next door to the Best Western Hotel. From the front it doesnt look that spectacular so could be easily missed and it was be a tragedy to miss it. its a small little restaurant with maybe enough room to seat 20 people no more. The waiter.... who i assume is the owner Harry was very friendly chatted to us about the city and what's good to do i Iceland... he gave us a tourist map to take with us to.

He doesnt have starters on the menu but thats for a reason as the mains are huge. Fish and chips consisted of no less than two fillets of Arctic Char or cod the batter was really light and the fish beautifully cooked. As a brit this is one of our national dishes and i can safely say i've never had fish and chips like this in the UK. The plate is dressed with a superb salad with feta cheese etc.... and fantastic chips. We also enjoyed the beef in oyster sauce with rice... He had various dips including one for the beef which was soy sauce, ginger, garlic and chili... it was hot but the chili burn didnt last long so for me that made it very good indeed. He has a great selection of drinks, Viking on draught was my favourite its a very light easy to drink lager and for Iceland reasonably priced.

The puddings are equally sensational we chose caramel cheesecake and warm apple pie. Now its the little things that make the difference.... these desserts are served with whipped cream which has fresh strawberries and blueberries laid in it and a little chocolate sauce on the other side with a little chocolate treat on the other.

Price wise i thought it was good value for what you had.. 2-3000 isk for a main meal when closer to town the the more local foods whale.. puffin etc..... are closer to 5-6000 isk just for a main meal!

If you go to Reykjavik you must go to Harry's its only a 15 minute walk from the big white church in the centre of town.
