“A good substitute for hotel”
Reviewed April 9, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

A group of 7 girlfriends spent a longweekend here, and we were very happy With the accomodations. A short walk to city centre, grocerystore nearby open 24h, and the house was perfect for us. Good space and facilities.

“Good Location but the house was very cluttered”
Reviewed November 29, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We were a party of 6 adults and we stayed at the Town House for 7 nights in September 2014. We would probably not rent this house again.

The house :- was in a great location for the city centre, harbour and food shops were all within a 10-15 minute walk. It was also easy to park the car in the road near the house.

The basement of the house had a lovely new bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet; it also housed the utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The bedroom (where one couple slept) was very cramped and full of furniture - the double bed was pushed into an alcove and could only be accessed from one side, there was a sofa, and clothes hanging rail, TV (which didn’t seem to work), a chair and a desk. The pillows were old, lumpy and uncomfortable. There were no instructions for using the various pieces of equipment in the house. In the past when we have rented a property there was always an information folder, this would have been very useful.

The ground floor had another WC (which seems to be a rare thing in Reykjavik), and an open plan kitchen/diner/living room with a TV, all kitchen equipment including a great coffee making machine using coffee beans. The kitchen was full of everything needed to self-cater, in fact it was overloaded with stuff. The pots and pans for cooking needed replacing, we had to clean them before using them and even then they did not clean up too well. There is a dish washer, fridge/freezer (freezer needed defrosting) electric kettle, food mixer, printer (which is handy for printing off boarding passes) to name a few gadgets – we moved a lot of stuff off the worktop to give us some space to prepare meals. Although the kitchen was full of assorted odd mugs/ crockery/glasses/dust collectors, etc. we didn’t find that the crockery and glassware was very functional, nor was it sufficient for our party of 6 (never mind for the supposed 9 who this house was to accommodate). Plus, there were no wine glasses.

The upstairs had 3 additional bedrooms (one of which was very small) and again they were full of clutter and personal items/clothing (now I know why there are no picture of the bedrooms on the website). One of the bedrooms was clearly a “kids” room with kids toys everywhere.

There was a reasonable amount of storage in the house but every drawer and cupboard was full of the owners clothing/personal items. We felt like we were camping in someone else’s house - like they had just up and left and decanted to somewhere else while the house was let – not quite what we are used to with VRBO.

The house is advertised to accommodate 9 people – we cannot see this – probably ideal for 4 adults , max and some (small) children. There are not enough chairs /room to sit 9 round the dining room table (the dining table sat 6), or 9 seats in the living room (probably enough seating for 4, comfortably )

This house is probably OK if you don’t plan to stay in it much, but I felt this house was overpriced for the amenities offered.”

Firstly thank you for the review we appreciate all comments. Yes this is someones home and your home away from home : )
There is a booklet at the house with instructions, but the owners say it does not include the kitchen equipment, except the dishwasher and microwave. We will try to have that amended. The kitchen is very large and even though there are a lot of kitchen equipments there is still plenty of space for cooking preparations, as can be seen on the photos : ) There are additional stools in the dining room. There usually are wineglasses, and we apologise sincerely that they were all missing (broken?). The pots look worn on the outside due to cooking on gas but are not dirty.
There are photos of all the bedrooms on the webpage : ) the largest bedrooms is a children’s bedroom, there are some toys there, for when there are kids in the group.
in the down stairs bedroom the TV is for the PS3 computer.
We are sorry you feel this way but hope you had a fantastic stay in Iceland.

“Fantastic stay!”
Reviewed August 15, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Our group has nothing but good things to say about our stay here. Jenny was so helpful leading up to the trip answering any questions/concerns we had. There were 7 of us staying here (3 couples and one single) and we each had our own, comfortable rooms. The house was clean, bright and spacious. The locations was perfect! Very close to a Bonus (for groceries) and close to a tourist info place where we caught all of our bus shuttles (we wound up not needing to rent a car). Also well within walking distance to many wonderful bars and restaurants. Checking in and out was a breeze as well. Thank you again Jenny for sharing your lovely home with us!

“A great base in Reykjavik”
Reviewed August 1, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We were a family group of 6 - three couples. The Town House is a very nicely located attached house close to central Rejkyavik attractions - walking distance to the harbor and nice restaurants. It has a nice kitchen, which we did not use very much, and was very comfortable for a group our size. A perfect base for a short trip to see the sights in the surrounding area, including Thingvellir/Gullfoss/geysers, horseback riding, Blue Lagoon, etc!
