“Yet another conversion of a steak and chips (fries) man”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

I'd never have gone to a restaurant such as this in a month of Sundays, except that a) I became confident of Reykjavik cuisine as a result of our visit to the Grill Market the previous evening (see review); and b) we had a 2-for-1 voucher as a result of buying flowers from a florist via our Hotel (Icelandair Marina - see that review also).

Again, a restaurant quite full with a lot of locals as well.
As it says, it specialises in fish.

We had bread of course and the waiter explained the three butters that were provided with it, one which was based on skyr, the 'Icelandic yoghurt'. They were delicious.
All our courses were, and I never expected to select salted cod, monkfish and arctic char and enjoy them as much as I did. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her meal also.

When it came to settle the bill we were charged for both meals, and I pointed out our voucher, which iot seems that the manager/owner hadn't been informed of. With absolutely no quibbling whatsoever the bill was amended, with absolutely everything - drinks included - down to 2-for-1.

Great service, great meal which reflects the costs and is still excellent value for money, very highly recommended.

And yes, those toilets !

“Great staff with food that was more flash than substance”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

I enjoyed going to Fish Company. We had reservations and were promptly seated. The staff was very professional and friendly. I could start to tell the atmosphere was sophisticated. I had the arctic char that was very well presented and cooked very nicely. There was a lobster and arctic char "roll up" that as also included that was a bit undercooked. The plate had a fantastic presentation, but the dollops of potatoes and roe only dusted the plate with food. There really wasn't much there if you put it all together. Friends had the mixed grill of varying fish and also commented some were cooked nicely but some were woefully underdone. I understand fresh fish, but shellfish needs to be cooked more. We all had the same thought that the presentation outweighed the actual food. Still, we enjoyed our meal and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting very fresh fish. Prices were in line with other nicer establishments.

“Incredible”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

We visited Reykjavik on 9 and 10 March and walked into this restaurant at about 7 pm on Sunday evening without a reservation. We were welcomed and taken to a table. The place was quiet dark as it was candle lit but it added to the atmosphere. The toilets are quirky and will make you smile! We only intended eating a main course and chose Russia rhubarb and Ireland beer. What fantastic dishes these were and what a treat. We only drank the iced tap water. We didn't want to leave so decided to have desserts which is very unusual for us. Again very innovative dishes which were full of flavour. We could see prospective customers being turned away and at about 8pm a huge party appeared. We were incredibly lucky to have been able to dine here without a reservation. If we return to Iceland we will be eating here again.

“Good atmosphere and quality food”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

try the tour of iceland, quality and flavour of fish is exceptional so fresh. The Icelandic lamb is nice ( but not as good as Welsh lamb) and the Veal sweetbreads are delicious (taste like Bacon) Sometimes it seems the chefs try to hard with the little bits and pieces of sides/garnish
Overall very good quality for the money, gets very busy so make a reservation
