Owner description: Nature Explorer offers tours in Iceland in Super Jeeps or Super-Trucks, which are modified 4x4s, which enable us to safely drive on glaciers and across unbridged rivers and reach otherwise inaccessible terrains, so that you can explore more of Iceland. We are a small, family run Icelandic tour operator, with a team of expert driverguides with background in Mt. Search & Rescue, 4x4 instructors and professional guides. We have a passion for Iceland and take pride sharing it in a personalized service on a variety of day and multi day tours. On our day tours out of Reykjavik we have the smallest group size in the industry, only 5 passengers per Super Jeep, but we can also cater to larger groups, and we offer private tours. We hope we can share your Iceland adventure.

Sure, you can ride around a bus and see the main sites of Iceland from a short drive from the city. You'll get a couple of nice pictures, but you'll be sitting with crowds (why come to Iceland only to fight with a bunch of other people for the same space...) and a strained neck from leaning in all day trying to hear the (hopefully working) intercom...

But wouldn't it be so much more memorable and fun to spend the day in the front seat, talking with the people who helped shaped the country, who are proud to be Icelandic and are willing to share their PhD level understanding of the geology, the history and the culture of such an amazing place?

How much do you know about Iceland? Really know about Iceland? Unless you are from there, probably not as much as you think. Hawk and Finnur taught me so much about their beautiful country- I'd book the tour just to sit down to have a coffee with them. You get the added benefit of some of the most amazing landscape rolling past your front-seat view.

Added bonus- if you are a photographer, chances are they are chasing the light and know EXACTLY when to show up to certain spots to hit the best light. They will even point out the rainbows when you aren't looking... (ahem. Thanks Hawk.)

But more than that, Hawk looked out for me my entire trip- suggesting the perfect hotel, tips on how to socialize in Icelandic... When you are traveling solo, having someone do a little extra for you is like having a traveling companion keeping an eye out for the both of you. He even suggested to go on Northern Lights tours when the forecast showed for clear skies. That's not even a TOUR I BOOKED WITH THEM.

You could book with another company. But honestly, you would be missing out on one of the best, authentic and premium experiences this country has to offer. You can wear running shoes, or you can wear Nikes. You can listen to some guy on a fiddle, or you can listen to Beethoven. You can book a tour with any other company, or you should book with Nature Explorer.

Thank you for your kind words. It‘s easy to do a good job when we have passionate travelers to enjoy Iceland nature with us – and one of the advantages of our Super-Jeeps is the two way conversation, so we can chat, ask questions etc rather than customers listening to a guide over a microphone or an intercom. It certainly makes the tour more engaging and interesting for us guides – and hopefully for you too.
Thank you for choosing Nature Explorer. We hope we can share another Iceland adventure with you :)

We had originally booked the western tour with this company but after being picked up by Gusti- who told us the weather was terrible in the west- we decided to take the Golden Circle tour instead.
We got to see all the notable sights- Thingvallir, Geyser, hot springs, off road driving in snow up to a glacier and more. It was excellent. Gusti was friendly, knowledgeable, and despite his Liverpool FC affinity, we all got on well.
We had 2 stops for food/ refreshments which were warm and adequate facilities. The superjeep was superb and I'll be putting an order in for one when I get home!

Overall, I can't recommend this highly enough.

We chose to spend a day exporing the Western area of Iceland with a private tour as a family (which was actuallly slightly less expensive than booking 4 separate tickets). The super-jeep was much enjoyed by everyone, it gave great visibility and really did allow us to get off the beaten track (though always within permitted areas as much care is taken to preserve the natural environment). The waterfall at Barnafoss was a cascading torrent of swirling water into which, folklore believes, 2 children fell and drowned a hundred years ago. The silent and ghostly remains of the US and British naval bases at Hvalfordhur was a beautiful drive, not to mention the exhilirating off road, through the deep snow, up a glacier ,couple of hours of adrenalin action. This is a well run, extremely efficient company, with a sensible regard for client safety. We had a great and memorable day an dwould strongly recommend it.

Iceland was on my list of 'things to do before you die.' And it has been my best vacation in my life. One can lay on the beach, but nothing compares to the quietness and the beauty of the land in winter that we were fortunate to undertake.

"Hawk" was professional in the organization and communication before the trip, and our guide "Lulli" was very very nice and knowledgeable and we had a GREAT experience with him and we will book with Nature Explorer again in the future, if our travel plans point us back to Iceland.

When I come back to normal life and stress, and I think about this trip, not too much bothers me (us) in normal life anymore. I only need to think about the great vast nature and the peace that surrounded us.

This was a perfect tour to see the wonders of Iceland's natural sites. We were in Iceland for 5 days for a conference and only had one day we could set aside for a tour. Nature Explorer picked us up at our hotel 9am and took us across all the major Iceland nature sites for a great day of exploration and fun returning around 7pm. I give this group the highest praise and recommendation for private or semi-private tour! No better way to see Iceland's many scenic wonders! -Mike C, Chicago, USA
