Wandering around downtown on Culture Night, everywhere was busy. This place is a little from the main center but well worth looking for if you want a reasonably priced meal. Service was fine, location fine and food very good. I will go back. Only negative was I had a craving for Moussaka and it was on their lunch menu but I arrived 5 minutes late for the lunch menu. Oh well now I have to go back.

We stumbled upon this restaurant and were surprised at the subtle flavors and richness of our meals. Nothing was overcooked; the blending of spices was superb. The price and generous servings was remarkable. The next evening, fifteen of us filled two tables upstairs and we got numerous complements from many of our friends for introducing them to Balkanika. We spent a great evening together. The service was pleasant and responsive. One can't do much better than this.

Delicious meze, including grilled meat, for four people at the cost of 15500 ISK is really good value for your money in Reykjavik

The food was very fresh and tasty. Lamb was very tender and nicely seasoned. The portions were generousn, and the vegetables vere fresh. It tasted like authentic Balcanic - resembling Greek and Turkish. Wines were nice and not so expensive as in many other places in Reykjavik. Me and my vegetariand friens were all pleased.

We've eaten at this place three times during our weekly stay at Reykjavik, and every time it was a very pleasant experience. This is true Mediterranian/Bulgarian cuisine, that is diverse and tasty. Service was friendly and attentive each time.

We would really recommend 2- and 4-person combos, which are a real bargain for Iceland, and also give you a very good variety. This included the case when the four of us took the combo with assorted grilled meat, and everybody enjoyed despite the inevitable difference in taste...

Despite the fact that the restaurant is just off Laugavegur, i.e. the main street in the old city, there are very few patrons here on weekday evenings, which is amazing given how good and affordable the food is.

Highly recommended!
