Owner description: Operating only a few select daily scheduled tours which are always in small groups, Iceland Horizon is a small, family run tour operation with no intention of becoming a large bus company. Our philosophy has always been that you are travelling on a guided tour and the bus is just a means of transport, keeping the experience more personal, friendly and fun for both travellers and guides. We also arrange tours for groups wanting a private or individual arrangement.

In spite of being a smaller operator, I fully vouch for the reviews here. We enjoyed our day, in a smaller group with a very knowledgeable and dedicated guide. Great customer service, comfort in the van in spite of being a very cold winter day and great itinerary.
Got to see all the main highlights of the tour accompanied by good commentary which covered history, economics and current Iceland living. Dave shared his great experience as an Expat fully settled in his new home.
Thank you to everyone who chose the independent guide! one of the best days of my visit.
Dave thank you for the additional smaller stops beautiful horses along the way! as well as your concern for our safety in the slippery parts of the trip. Keep at it!

Booked the Golden circle tour with this company as i read that it gives you a more personal day, which is definitely correct, we were on a mini bus no more than 20 of us. Visited all the sights that were listed with plenty of time to enjoy them. Visiting the Geysir, we enjoyed an hour and 15 minutes there with time to get a big lunch aswell! Gerda, our tour guide, was amazing! The enthusiasm and passion about her country and the facts and history she told us along the way was outstanding. She even stopped to let us stroke some icelandic horses and to admire the fantastic sunrise. I would highly recommend this company, a great day without fault!

David was excellent and a real highlight of our trip to Iceland. Prompt pickup and as a smaller operator was able to get straight out on the road instead of messing around joining onto other groups. On the way out of town he provided really insightful and interesting commentary on the history of Iceland, leading into the stories behind the various attractions. Definitely came out of it feeling like I'd learnt something!

Being a smaller operator, David was also able to stop off at one or two extra places en route to make it a real bang for buck trip. We saw a smaller waterfall in addition to Gullfoss, a small town en route, and even stopped quickly to say hi to some Icelandic horses - they're very cool! To boot, David was able to give us an hour at each of the main sites whilst still beating the large tour groups - a real benefit when it comes to skipping queues for lunches and toilet stops!

Would definitely recommend Iceland Horizon, David is clearly passionate about the country, travel and delivers exceptional service.

This was my favorite experience out of our entire five days in Iceland. We were picked up promptly at our hotel in the morning and drove the 2.5 hours to southern Iceland, to our glacier. We were in a six person van and the tour guide was super friendly and gave us a bit of information and history of Iceland along the way. He also happily answered any questions that we had.

This company seemed to have perfected everything on this trip. We had between 20-25 people and three guides, so about one guide per 8 people. They were super efficient about sizing us for crampons and handing out the rest of our gear. After a brief safety discussion, we were off for our hike.

The guides were VERY experienced and immediately ready to correct someone if they saw that they were doing something unsafe. They were also very patient and gave us pointers when needed, answered any questions and allowed us time to stop at take photos at some of the most picturesque spots.

When it was time for ice climbing, we got another set of instructions, as well as a demonstration. The three guides put up three lines for climbing, with one guide to belay each line. It then took about an hour for everyone to get a turn at climbing. Again, the guides were very patient and helpful with everyone. It was such an amazing experience, both the hike on the glacier and the ice climbing were out of this world...I felt like I was in an Arctic wonderland.

After our ice climb, we then hiked back down to the glacier, we washed off our climbing tools in a glacial pond and then sat down on some lava rocks to take off our crampons and climbing harnesses. The guides then quickly collected our gear and handed out or lunches.

We each got a really delicious sandwich, a pastry and a juice box. After a few hours of hiking and climbing, it really hit the spot. On the way home, we stopped at the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which was really beautiful.

Again, I can't say enough great things about this company and when I go back (oh, and I will be back), I plan to schedule all of my tours with them.

They say that the difference between mediocre and magnificent is the detail, well in David's case the detail was magnificent!
Our decision to use Horizon for this tour was based solely on other trip adviser reviews. We asked reception in the hotel to book it on our behalf, which they gladly did. We were collected from our hotel by David in a 14 seater minibus the next morning as promised. There were 9 others already on the bus therefore making 11 of us on this tour
David's knowledge and passion for Iceland was immense and he delivered a great running commentary throughout the day in a very informative and entertaining way.
David's attention to detail was admirable, even down to suggesting where to walk to avoid slipping on the ice and parking his minibus in the most convenient parking slot to avoid the uneven ground and build up of ice.
All in all an excellent day and I would highly recommend Horizon
