Description: Tiny family owned soup restaurant in the heart of Reykjavik We are the first "soup in bread" restaurant in Iceland. We've been serving soups in bread for over 20 years and still loving it. We don't take reservations, ever - but swing by and we will do our best to fit you in with smiles on our faces! :)

The atmosphere is lovely, overlooking the shopping street below. We tried the signature soup in bread dish, and both were exceedingly tasty and left us feeling stuffed. Fantastic value for money.
The staff were very friendly and attentive which is always a big plus.

We happened to see the sign out front advertising the best soup in town. At that time we didn't know that it was a highly rated restaurant. The soup didn't disappoint and the staff was helpful & friendly.

After reading about this cafe on TripAdvisor, we felt we just had to visit to try out their home-made soup. The cafe was quite full when we arrived, but we managed to get one of the last tables. Service was very efficient and we were offered a choice of two soups - a tandoori meat soup or a vegetarian cauliflower one. We chose the meat version. It was delicious - and so was the bread "bowl" it was served in.

Perfect for a cold day in Reykjavik.

We were staying in Reykjavik for a special anniversary. So before going we looked up places to eat on Tripadvisor and were impressed by the reviews for Svarta Kaffi. We thoroughly looked forward to trying out the specialiaty Soup in a Roll. We were not disappointed. The roll was full to the brim with hot tasty soup. We struggled to eat all of the roll but made a good dent on it. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the cafe very popular. Do not pass this one up if you visit Reykjavik.

I lived in the UK for couple of years and started to miss sourdough bread.
The Icelandig bread served in in Svarta Kaffi is closest thing to the Polish one.
