Description: Vidid and homely seafood restaurant by the old harbour in Reykjavik opposite the Maritime museum. Fresh fish is our game! Magnús Ingi Magnússon, chef and owner of Sjávarbarinn, also guides groups in a gourmet walk by the old harbour. He welcomes the group in his seafood restaurant at 10 am with traditional fermented shark and Icelandic schnaps, called Brennivín or Black Death, and more local delicacies. Participants are then led on a tour by the old harbour that ends with a visit to the Icelandic fish market nearby where they can see the fresh variety in the day‘s catch. Magnús Ingi guides the tour and gives an introduction to Icelandic fisheries and its history. Then the group returns to Sjávarbarinn for a feast, a buffet with variety of the best seafood that day. There Magnús talks about traditional and popular seafood dishes and cooking methods. The meal ends appr. at 12.30 pm. More information at our website, sjavarbarinn.is. Only 6,900 ISK per person – €55 – $66

This is a good seafood restaurant. The food is delicious, the soup of the day and salad bar are included with every dish. And the price is very reasonable. The downside is the uninspiring location at the edge of the harbour. A 10 minute walk from Reykjavik downtown. But it is worth every minute.

Originally we were not planning on having lunch but we saw this restaurant while leaving the Viking saga museum. We came in to check it out and fell in love with the place. The food was delicious and the menu had a lot of variety. Best of all, the portions were large and the food was reasonably priced. The only reason we didn't come back more than once was because out flight left the next day. We recommend this to all visitors looking for a good hearty traditional Icelandic meal at reasonable prices.

We tried the seafood buffet and were not impressed. Food was overly creamy and bland tasting.
Fish was limp and oily.
Buffet very expensive considering the quality of the food.

The food here was decent. They have a seafood buffet with about 6 different preparations of fish, as well as salads and a few varieties of breads. The food was okay but nothing to write home about. In a city of expensive food, the price was okay, although more than I would have liked to pay for the food. It is a buffet though, so you could fill up for sure. The soup to start was the best part.

Expensive and uninspiring food, especially compared to what can be had in Reykjavik for the same price.
