We booked a double room at the Capital Inn as we found a good offer on one internet site (65 € incl. breakfast). The positive thing about the CI is that it's served by the shuttle bus that comes from the airport, and since our flight landed at 1 am that was a fundamental option to us. Positive aspects: We were assigned a big room with two confortable beds. Breakfast was pretty good. The guy at the reception was amazingly kind and gave us precious suggestions on the itinerary we were about to start. Negative aspects: the location. The CI is located in a small neighborhood just outside Reykiavik and it takes about a 30 minutes walk to reach the city center. Second negative aspect is the noise: our room was in fact facing the 'highway' and I could not sleep well because of the cars passing by since 5 am in the morning. Note also that we wanted to go back to the CI at the end of our trip but the price for the same room not booked on the internet was 80 €, which I think it's a bit too much considered the location.

Great staff, lovely location if you dont mind a walk into town. Bike rental, scooter rental, in fact the more I think of it it really was a nice place to stay. We arrived in a heat wave! Forward facing rooms get very....VERY hot in the afternoon if its sunny (we had a week of 23 hour sunshine). Its on the lower end of the price range but we had a lovely stay.

The Capital Inn has excellent service and are very helpful when it comes to help people explore Iceland.
Everything can be arranged at the hotel with pick-ups for excursions, paing, postal service etc.
The staff does also help with the most cost effective way to exlpore Iceland.
We are very satisfied.

I have stayed here a number of times before when it was called Hotel Duna if my memory serves me correctly. Clientele mostly youngsters on a budget (but not rowdy on my visit).

It is more like a hostel really, yet it has twin-bedded rooms though with shared facilities, ie toilet and shower room down the corridor. Get up early and enjoy comparative privacy !

Beds comfortable, rooms a bit spartan, eg one chair and no telephone.

Breakfast was usual self-sevice fare taken in a communal dining-hall but nothing cooked available.

The negative part was traffic noise really, as the hotel is situated next to a dual carriageway (divided highway) with fast moving traffic which runs H24. As it was wet too when I was there, the noise was magnified and incessant. Windows single-glazed and I kept them shut ! But there are rooms available which do not face the road.

Staff not Icelandic, but Polish when I was there. English not a problem though.

But, as the title says, it would be difficult to find warm, comfortable, adequate accommodation cheaper at around $34 a night. Taxi fare to Reykjavik airport is about 1300 ISK though you could walk it in 40 mins like I did. Probably about 50 mins walk into town.
