“Great stay in the heart of town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2012

We've been to Reykjavik a few times and this is our preferred stay - most places are pretty central but this one is not only a stone throw away from Laugavegur, which is the main street in town, but it's quiet at the same time. Be aware that this is not a hotel but an apartment house so you'll effectively stay in a fully "ready to live in" 1 bedroom apartment with all amenities you would expect from basics like fridge, oven, microwave, cutlery and flat screen telly but also an I-pad docking station, books and DVDs. Having free parking, free WiFi and a local cell phone for you to use are great additional perks. There is also a great bakery just across the road so you're in for a freshly baked breakfast treat every morning. This might not be the cheapest of places to stay but if you rather cater for yourself and staying in yet another hotel is not a must for you it's for sure worth the money.

Room Tip: Apartments on the top floor come with a neat little balcony

We stayed here for 2 days in June. It was just perfect. The apartment was clean, modern and centrally located and the staff was helpful and friendly. Free parking and a local cell phone were nice perks. There's a great bakery across the street and a grocery store around the corner. A quick walk to restaurants, shopping and attractions. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Iceland.

We stayed here for a week in March 2012. The 1-bed apartment surpassed our expectations. It was clean, modern, comfortable, well appointed, central to town but on a quiet side street, near the bars, attractions, supermarket, restaurants and is a stop for the tour buses and flybus transfer coach. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful and there was lots of useful tourist info and a library of books and DVDs in the reception area.

We loved our trip to Iceland and saw the northern lights. We're definitely coming back to do the perimeter road tour and we'll definitely stay here again.

Tips:
Make sure you see the Golden Circle!
We had a great night out at Grillmarkadurinn
Be careful with your mjolk. You might get milk (for a lovely cup of tea) or you might get 1L of yoghurt. Shake the carton to check!!

Room Tip: Ask for 1st floor or up if available. We were perfectly happy with the ground floor apartment but we...

Onsite parking was great as well as the ability to walk almost anywhere in the city from this hotel, a bakery was right across the street. The furnishings were nice, the rooms were clean, and the staff was helpful. Only thing that could have been better were the blackout curtains, a little less light would have been nice. The nightlife was not heard as loudly in this location as in others, which was a plus.

We spent a week in Reykjavik in a two bedroom apartment. We were pleased with the service we received. The apartment was clean and well maintained. They have a decent DVD collection of adult and kids films. They also provide a local cell phone, which was a nice touch. We were in a ground floor apartment, so it go a little noisy at 4:30 a.m. when the bars closed. Otherwise, we had no complaints. I would ask for an apartment on one of the higher floors next time, However, there are no elevators. Keep that in mind if you have mobility issues.
We stayed in the apartments that are closer to town. We walked to most places. Definitely a good value for the money.

Room Tip: Ground floor if you have mobility issues. Higher floors otherwise. The higher floors have less str...

My husband and I had booked a one-bedroom apartment for the first 2 nights of our drive around Iceland and were upgraded to a two-bedroom apartment on our arrival. Although the extra room was a bonus, I was initially a little uncertain as it meant we were on the main street for Friday and Saturday nights and I had read about the noise from previous reviews. However, the apartment was so large, the bedroom at the back of the apartment was such a long way from the front that we weren't disturbed at all (and I am a very light sleeper!) There was a jacuzzi bath in the bathroom which was very pleasant to use after a long day's sightseeing (once you had got accustomed to the smell of sulphur). There was a small balcony off the main bedroom with a sea view in the distance. There was a large lounge/dining area and very well-equipped kitchen, all open plan. A cell phone was provided for use in Reykjavik. The only slight draw-back from the location here was that there was no free parking as at their other location but we were able to leave our car where we booked in (as we weren't planning to use it whilst in the city) and the manager drove us to our apartment and helped us with our luggage. The apartment was very large, modern and clean and would be ideal accommodation for a family. I would certainly recommend it.

I am a picky visitor and this apartment was great in so many ways. We were within walking distance to the main street and a discount grocery store was a 2 minute walk or you could go to the bakery right across the street. It was quiet and clean. The only things I did not like were fairly trivial....the pillows were horrible to sleep on (but I think this kind of floppy pillow is common in Iceland), strong smell of sulphur in the water, and most North American flights arrive early in the morning, but getting an early check-in is difficult. We had emailed prior to our visit but it turns out we could not check in until 3 pm. We made the most of it and went to the Blue Lagoon so we could relax and then shower. The people are very friendly and accommodating. I would stay here again.
