We stayed in Butterfly Guesthouse in August. The room is nice, cosy and clean with a small but complete bathroom and a big shower. The place is very clean and all the facilities for breakfast are available. We rented also the camper for a 2 weeks tour around Iceland and it was even better. The camper was almost new and very well kept and equipped with anything you may need like linen, towels, kitchen equipment, cleaning items, detergents etc.
Jon and Olafia are really great, they stayed in touch with us while we were around Iceland sending us mails with suggestions on what to visit, weather forecasts etc.
Next time in Reykjavik we'll undoubtedly go again to Butterfly.

Honeymoon in Iceland was amazing, but starting our trip at the Butterfly made it perfect! Jon & Olafia always had time to help set up activities for the day and answer all our questions. We found the Butterfly spotless, staff and guests very friendly, and close to everything you need. Their massive selection of Breakfast keeps you going all day, which makes it an easy decision to stay there rather than the hostel life of groceries... booo! Some good friends are heading to Iceland this year and we told them they must stay at the Butterfly. Give it a chance for one day and you will fall in love. I wish you all safe holidays.

We felt really welcome at Butterly Guesthouse. The hosts, Jon and Turid, were very helpful with advice about what to do and where to go. We also had good communication on e-mail with Jon before we arrived.
The guesthouse is central located, but in a quiet street with no noise from traffic or resturants/bars. Walking distance to good restaurants, the harbor, the culture house "Harpa", and the city center. The airport bus stops nearby the Guesthouse.
Jon helped us rent a car. The appartments and rooms are modern, clean and well kept. They serve a traditional Icelandic/Norwegian breakfast; bread, jam, cheese, coffee, milk, juice. We really recommand staying at Butterfly Guesthouse, and we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are a bit small, so if you need or want space for example for luggage, we would re...

Iceland in general is quite expensive, so with that being said location was one of our criteria which The Butterfly House had. Located on a quiet street and within walking distance from all the places we wanted to visit such as shops, restaurants, harbor, concert hall, tallest church, etc.
Jon was quick to respond to my emails prior to arrival and accommodating the 3 of us. The room was small and bathroom very small, but grateful to have a private bath(and washcloths). Our room overlooked the street. We didn't need our car the whole time and were grateful to find a spot close by to park for free. After 6p.m. and before 10a.m. you can park right on their street free, so we just moved our car the night before we left.

Room Tip: Shop location, price and don't wait! Pick a hotel that doesn't require deposit. We found Boo...

This was a terrific place to stay! Jon was super-helpful, and he went out of his way to help us when we needed it and to accommodate us in every possible way. The location is very central, being walking distance to the downtown area, the concert hall, and the harbor. We had the downstairs apartment for the three of us, and it was perfectly spacious. All is very clean. Would definitely stay there again.

Jon, the hands-on owner/manager, runs an lovely guesthouse that is tucked away in a quiet side street within easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, and harbor from this location.

We opted for the apartment, which provided a wide array of cooking utensils, and we put it to good use. In addition, the community kitchen area, also available to the apartment renters, is furnished with an abundance of breakfast options, including fresh fruit, meats, cheese, nuts, etc.

Most important, Jon was quick in responding to my reservation inquiry . His email included detailed information and links regarding bus transportation to the guest house. He advised us NOT to take the taxi due to its high cost.

As a frequent traveler, I give the Butterfly Guesthouse my highest recommendation.

Well, you have to know that Reykjavik is a very expensive place. Food, wine, and rooms. So, while this is a great value for Iceland, in comparison with other places we have stayed around Europe, it is really a lot of money for a basic room.
However, the room was large enough, with a view out on the street. We had room 3 with ensuite bathroom. The bathroom was tiny, and I sort of had my doubts about the shower set up, but it worked wonderfully, though it was a little crowded. The owners were helpful and personable, and suggested alternate driving routes so we could see different sights. I liked that the kitchen was always open. It is serve yourself, so if you want that 23:00 cup of coffee while you are writing on TripAdvisor, then you just go make it! You can also buy food, and you are assigned storage, like in a hostel. The location was great, right within walking distance of the main sights and a good public (hot water) pool. The other guests were friendly, so overall it was a great place.
