A fantastic place to stay in Reykjavik. Believe all the good things that people have to say about this place. Great location, about a two minute walk from the center of town but on a quiet residential street. No screaming drunks keeping you awake at 4:00 AM on Friday or Saturday! Self-catering is great -- particularly for eating breakfast. If you are really on a budget, cooking a dinner or two in will really save money as well. Also, if you stay in the large apartment you get your own private parking place in the driveway of the building. There is plenty of on-street parking for the other apartments.

We had a fantastic stay at the Embassy apartments. The location was perfect, the price was affordable and the apartment was clean and had everything we needed. More than that though was as it was our first stay in Reykjavik (with a little one too) we had lots of questions we needed answering in advance and Ingibergur was a wonderful help. Everything exceeded our expectations (comfort, English tv, extra beds, taxi, coffee, soap etc) I wouldnt hesitate to recommend the place and wouldnt stay anywhere else. We felt very lucky when we got there because I was surprised how far out of the centre a lot of the bigger hotels were. The Embassy is 5 mins walk from a 24 hour supermarket, wine shop and 6 or 7 excellent eating places, not to mention the tourist info place where they will change your money and travellers cheques (at a much better rate than we got in the UK)
Also if you are on a budget, as food and booze is a bit minty(bring your wine quota in duty free) the self catering aspect really came into its own here. Look no further for accomodation!!

We have just returned from a long weekend in Iceland, staying at the Embassy Luxury Apartments. We stayed in Apt 100 and we are so glad we booked this place (thanks to recommendations on Trip Advisor!). When we arrived, early, they were not at all phased and let us in directly. The apartment was absolutely wonderful, it was large, clean, well decorated and a real home-from-home. When we ventured out later we realised how well located it was, only a couple of mins walk from the main town square and shopping areas. Even though it was so well located it was lovely and quiet and we were not at all disturbed during our 4 nights, which is just as well as we made the most of our time in Iceland!

Iceland itself is an amazingly beautiful country. We deliberately booked in Winter because we wanted to see the snow and boy did we see a lot of snow! We arrived on Thursday and looked around Reykjavik and we were struck with how small it really is, which was nice and made it easy to navigate. We wandered through the streets up to the Hallgrimskirja which looked amazing in the snow at night, with lights twinkling. We made our way back via some bars and had an early night to prepare for our day on Friday. We had booked a snowmobile ride and Golden Circle tour so we had a busy day ahead of us. We were picked up early and driven through some treacherous roads to the Glacier, where we were kitted out. If you are at all interested in doing this then don't think you have to be sporty or adventurous, there were people of all ages and abilities on our tour and the guides couldn't have been more helpful or patient, it was an amazing experience! We didnt have time for Thingvellir which was disappointing but we managed to see Gullfoss and Geysir, by then the weather was getting very windy and blizzardy so we had to make sure we got back. On Saturday we went shopping in Reykjavik - yes the prices are high but you can find some really interesting things! On Saturday night we prepared ourselves for the infamous 'Runtur', which is the Friday and Saturday night nightlife, nothing starts until 11pm+ and goes on until 6.00am! We didn't think we would last so long, but thanks to the amazing energy from the locals and the welcome we found it was very easy and the beer flowed very well... Thanks to DJ Thor for a great set at Sirkus and to the DJ in Bar 11 who we chatted to lots but didn't get his name. So....after a very, very late night we only got about 3 hours sleep and we had to catch our coach to the Blue Lagoon...surely there is no better hangover cure than floating in mineral rich waters with steam rising all around clearing your head? We stayed in for 2 hours and I could happily have stayed all day, I did not know whether I would enjoy this but everyone told me I had to go and I am so glad I did - you have to experience it to believe it - it has ethereal beauty, especially in Winter when the steam is incredible! By the time we got back we only had time to go for a meal (£70 for 2 starters and main courses in the local Indian - reknowned for being the most Northern Indian restaurant in the world!) and pack and that was our weekend over. We got our taxi the next morning and flew home, bidding our farewells to this amazing place.

If you have any adventure in you go to Iceland - and stay at the fantastic Embassy Apartments - you won't regret it!

Well after an exhaustive amount of online research we were lucky enough to decide to book this lovely apartment that felt just like a large home. Online maps for accomodations in Reykjavik are non-existent and boy were we lucky we booked where we did as most of the hotels that we were looking at for comparable prices were many kilometers/miles away from the thriving city center (really one main street). The apartment was everything that we could have asked for: fully stocked kitchen, nicely furnished living and dining rooms, a library, an office area with an internet line, etc. This apartment was just a block from all of the action and the best fish seafood restaurant imagineable (on the wharf). Although there was plenty of parking, we enjoyed parking in the driveway. So much more cozy and intimate than a hotel room...a no brainer! The value of this apartment
is incomparable to a hotel. The hosts were extremely accomodating as we needed to leave luggage and they were more than happy to accomodate
us. We felt spoiled and didn't want to leave.

I found this property on Trip Advisor and was so glad I stayed here. I stayed in Room 90 of the Empire Apartments which is very conveniently located in Gardastraeti 40, a quiet side street within 5 or 10 minutes walk of the city centre. The apartment was very clean and tidy, and the large rooms were newly furnished and very fresh. This apartment has a large double bedroom, lounge/living room, shower-room and a small kitchen area within the hallway. The apartment is well equipped with TV and DVD, direct dial phone and free wired internet connection. Parking outside is chargable Mon-Sat, but you can park in one of the neighbouring streets free of charge instead.

Considering everything in Reykjavik is so expensive this place is an incredible bargain and should not be missed!
