just perfect - Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik City Centre

LOVED this Hilton - very unique! Great location within walking distance to the main parts of the city, many restaurants and shops. I was greeted and checked in very quickly by Steini who could not have been more friendly and helpful. Atypical front desk - a long table with three laptops to the right of the entrance. Modern furnishings and decor. Loved my room decorated in blues and greys with a wonderful bed with comfy linens. Great bathroom with nice toiletries. Coffee, tea and great free WiFi in room. Spotlessly clean. Scandinavian decor was perfection. Nice touches throughout. Fantastic buffet breakfast offered in the restaurant is included. Bikes on hand should you choose to ride. A couple blocks from tour bus pickup location. Happy Hour offered in lobby area each afternoon with drinks at reasonable prices. Coffee and breakfast treats offered there in morning for a charge. Can’t say enough good things about this amazing property. Absolutely superb!! Highly recommend!!

My husband and I recently stayed at Canopy by Hilton and I loved the decoration which is a mix of northern with industrial, very chic and warm. The staff was both friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and there was a nice variety to choose from. I would definitely recommend this hotel which is located walking distance from all the major sites in the city.

This is a very modern and stylish hotel. We really enjoyed our stay, overall. The location is obviously central (to a small city), and they have some excellent and fun "extras." The breakfast is second-to-none. Really top notch, and included with our room. The happy hour provides a good deal on drinks ($5 wine, etc.), and we really enjoyed their selection of old records. You can check out a record player at the desk!

Now... for the unpleasant aspects of our stay. We were on the 3rd floor overlooking a small courtyard. The first night was very noisy (there was a Pride event), and we had to leave the TV on to fall asleep. The second and third nights weren't too bad-- pretty quiet by midnight. The problem that compounds the noise issue, though, is that the rooms are VERY warm. I suppose heat is rising from the lower levels. There's no A/C (it's Iceland!), and you can't open the window due to the noise. They do provide a fan in the room, though. Was it unbearable? No. Would we stay here again? Yes.
