My husband and I just returned from a four night stay at this property.
Canopy by Hilton is a new brand and is very trendy. This hotel opened in 2017, and was its first. We enjoyed its boutique and rather innovative design. It offers a complimentary breakfast daily, which was delicious and beautifully presented. Food is very expensive in Iceland, so this is a nice value. They have a happy hour daily which features half price drinks. We dined at their restaurant one evening, which was a gourmet experience.
When we arrived at the hotel at 8AM following a transatlantic flight, our room was ready for check in. This was extraordinary. At all times, the staff was professional, friendly and helpful. They arranged some day tours for us. I would encourage people to use the Flybus shuttle from the airport to the hotel (it does involve one transfer at the main bus terminal). It is handled very efficiently and is a good value. They know what they are doing!
Our room was located on the top floor, facing the interior courtyard. It was on the small side, but that it typical of European hotels. It made efficient use of space and the bed was very comfortable.
Unfortunately, as others have noted, there is a lot of noise from the outside of this hotel during the night. We like to sleep with an open window, and quickly learned that this is not possible. Closing the window will block out some noise, but the room becomes very stuffy. I inquired about air conditioning, and the staff laughed at me, saying "This is Iceland - we don't have air conditioning!" They did offer me ear plugs. How sad that there are no city ordinances to control this noise issue, as the Canopy Hotel is located in a perfect area of the city for sightseeing, tour and shuttle pickup, and walkability.
I would like to give this hotel five stars. but cannot, given the sleep quality.
