My wife and I highly recommend Canopy by Hilton. The front desk staff go out of their way to be helpful, and the room was very clean and well appointed. Our junior suite was excellent, and we were happy to have one with a balcony (even though views even from the top floor aren’t all that great). Location was perfect for us, as was the buffet breakfast. One area for improvement… staff and processes at the bar.

Loud to the point of insane outside. No AC in room so you must leave the little window open. We were on street side across from the Miami Nite Club and horribly loud and even got to watch and hear a fight at 1:30 am and just as loud the next night.

Place as no blackout drapes and even if they had them the room has no AC and you would melt.

I told the front desk about this and they just said sorry and people always complain.

If you stay there you have been warned.

Read the reviews carefully. When you stay matters. Weekday stays you sleep, weekend stays you don't. It's a nice hotel in a nice location during the week. On the weekend it is still a nice hotel in a nice location however don't expect to sleep at all from the noise from the neighboring bars. Three music intense bars and very loud, very drunk people surround the hotel all night long until 5-6 AM.

To make matters worse there is an open air courtyard that is exposed to even more bars and even more wandering people. There are no truly interior rooms in this hotel. There is no where to hide on the weekend to get a night of sleep in this hotel.

If you have ever suffered a sleepless night on a vacation you know how bad the next day can be on a tour. What about airline pilots, flight attendants, business people? Simply stated avoid this place on Friday and Saturday evenings. I agree with a prior reviewer - If a hotel can't provide a quiet place to sleep at night - it fails the primary purpose of a hotel.

Great hotel and location. Staff were very helpful and breakfast is exceptional. Comfortable beds and nice sized rooms. Easy walk to bus stops for tours and local restaurants are all around. One of the better hotels in Iceland and well worth the price.

My husband and I just returned from a four night stay at this property.

Canopy by Hilton is a new brand and is very trendy. This hotel opened in 2017, and was its first. We enjoyed its boutique and rather innovative design. It offers a complimentary breakfast daily, which was delicious and beautifully presented. Food is very expensive in Iceland, so this is a nice value. They have a happy hour daily which features half price drinks. We dined at their restaurant one evening, which was a gourmet experience.

When we arrived at the hotel at 8AM following a transatlantic flight, our room was ready for check in. This was extraordinary. At all times, the staff was professional, friendly and helpful. They arranged some day tours for us. I would encourage people to use the Flybus shuttle from the airport to the hotel (it does involve one transfer at the main bus terminal). It is handled very efficiently and is a good value. They know what they are doing!

Our room was located on the top floor, facing the interior courtyard. It was on the small side, but that it typical of European hotels. It made efficient use of space and the bed was very comfortable.

Unfortunately, as others have noted, there is a lot of noise from the outside of this hotel during the night. We like to sleep with an open window, and quickly learned that this is not possible. Closing the window will block out some noise, but the room becomes very stuffy. I inquired about air conditioning, and the staff laughed at me, saying "This is Iceland - we don't have air conditioning!" They did offer me ear plugs. How sad that there are no city ordinances to control this noise issue, as the Canopy Hotel is located in a perfect area of the city for sightseeing, tour and shuttle pickup, and walkability.

I would like to give this hotel five stars. but cannot, given the sleep quality.

Room tip: Request a quiet room, although I am not sure one exists.
